Terrible day sleeper help !

So my Lo is 12 weeks and she is the worst day sleeper she is so hard to get to sleep then once she is asleep she maybe naps for 45 mins before waking up. Usually have to walk with her for 20 mins to get her to sleep. I have tried everything napping in arms , swing, mommaroo, Rock and play and still she wakes up. It just gets worse as the day goes on because she get fussier and fussier because she is tired . At night she is pretty good once we get her to sleep she will sleep through the night just waking up to eat then will fall back immediately . I am going crazy during the day any suggests or tips or advice on what to do would be appreciated . I was thinking for the longest time once she was 3 months she would outgrow it but nope .

  • My LO is similar. Have you tried a baby carrier? He will only nap in the baby k'tan with white noise on full blast. I put him in the carrier and he SCREAMS, but I start the white noise app and walk back and forth and he falls asleep in 2-3 minutes.

  • Happened to my baby at 12 weeks and she's 13 weeks and she still cries before every nap and every bedtime and MOTN feeding
Not sure what to say but I'm hoping it's a phase and we will get through it sooner
Going back to work today and hoping nanny can handle it....
  • It has to do with the transition into deep sleep.  A lot of babies struggle to make it through the transition into their second sleep cycle which results in cat naps throughout the day.  As baby's sleep process matures and she begins to drop and consolidate naps they will likely get longer.

My first was a cat napper and really struggled.  What kind of a swing are you using? One thing that would (sometimes) help was to be present during the end of that first cycle, this is fairly easy since they tend to be almost by the clock.  I would jiggle the handle of the swing to sort of vibrate his head back and forth when I could tell he was moving into deep sleep and it helped soothe him back to sleep. It didn't always work but it helped get a few decent naps in here and there.

This issue doesn't really translate into night sleep.  My first would wake after his first cycle of the night but once we were able to soothe him back down once he slept normally.
  • I have a moby wrap she hates that too! I feel so defeated during the day it's like I just try to get her to nap all day because she over tired. I have just a normal swing that can go in a circular motion. I will try jiggling it thank u ! I just hope her sleep develops soon any other ideas on how to help her please let me know :)
  • I'm in the same boat, never naps more than 30 mins. 45 minutes isn't too bad!
