Thank you all I definitely thought lay-la but then heard someone say lee-la. I've never heard (or thought of) lee-eye-luh as a pronunciation

I would ask the person (or mother) for clarification first before pronouncing. I know a Leila who goes by Lye-luh and another one who goes by Lay-luh, so they both seem normal to me!

There's a street in my home town that's spelled Leila and is pronounced Lee-lah.  That's how I would pronounce it.

I like the lee-la pronunciation, but I wouldn't spell it as Leila. Maybe Liela?? Lol
