Sore Uterus?

Ok, so I'm 5 weeks pp and I feel like my uterus is still sore? Not like contractions but sore. It's when I try and get out of bed or get up from a weird position. I'm assuming it's my uterus because it's low in my pelvis but maybe it's my abdominal muscles. Idk it just seems too low to be abdominal muscles. It's like my pantie line area where they would typically make a c-section incision (i didn't have a c-section). My ob said she'd give me pain medicine but I don't want that. It's not horrible pain but definitely sore. Other than that my recovery has been totally fine. Does anyone else have this? Any advice?

  • Did you have any tearing? I know some people overcompensate with their lower abdominal muscles when they've torn.
  • I didn't tear at all... :(

  • After I had my second child I got an infection in my uterus and it hurt like that. I just kept having lower abdominal pain. It hurt to even push down on that area so my doctor did an ultrasound and found I had an infection. They gave me antibiotics and we're going to have to do a D&C if it didn't clear up. Luckily it did and everything was fine. I'd definitely let your doctor know at your 6 week check up. He may be able to pinpoint the issue. Or it could just be your body is still recovering.

Interesting. I will call her. Weird that she does a 4 week pp check up instead of 6 week. But anyway, I mentioned it to her and she said she could give me some pain meds. It's not that bad but I'll call and see if I can see her again soon if it doesn't go away. It's just weird. This is my 3 baby and I don't remember feeling like this with my others. I know each is different and I'm older now bit still. Idk.
  • It can be frustrating not knowing what's going on with yourself. I hope it gets better soon.

    Thanks so much!
  • I had an infection and retained placenta and had what you are describing.. I would recommend going to your doctor ASAP because you wouldn't want anything to get worse!

Ok, I called and have an appointment Thursday. She just didn't seem worried about it when I told her. She was just like "yeah, you'll be sore for awhile." I was like ooookkk?
  • I'm only 2.5 weeks postpartum but my muscles are still sore in my lower stomach.
  • Yeah my muscles are still sore too. I noticed improvement as I was nearing 3 weeks PP. I hope you will get answers soon!
  • Ob said she thinks it's just my muscles. Pap was clear. She said if it's not improved by 6-8 weeks come back. Guess I'll wait it out.
