Best maternity/nursing bras for larger sizes

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I still have not found a good bra for my size. I'm talking support and shape. Everything either contorts me or doesn't provide nearly enough support. I've tried a million bras. Anyone size DDD/E and up have a bra they love? I would like to actually feel good in a bra this time around and not over-rely on sports bras.

Re: Best maternity/nursing bras for larger sizes

  • A friend of mine recommended this one. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/cake-cotton-candy-seamless-nursing-bra/3361818?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=2375500&fashionColor=Blush&resultback=0&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-searchresults-_-1_1_A

I haven't gotten mine yet but I do plan to try it out. My boobs are out of control I plan to go get some new bras this weekend.

  • The only bras I've been able to wear recently are the nursing maternity sleep bras from target. They are anything but pretty, but are comfortable. So I'll be watching this thread carefully. Thank you!
  • My sister is giving birth pretty soon and is a 36E. I know she's been looking but hasnt been able to find anything in her price range (she was a 36 C/D before). I'll be following this too for her!
  • I am a 46G (before getting pregnant) I LOVE Lane Bryants Cooling Bra. It fits Awesome, keeps the girls in place. It lifts and keeps them where they are supposed to be. They are pretty comfy too, for underwire.

I am very self conscience about my boobs and always have been. These bras make it better. They are pricey so I usually wait for them to be on BOGO which is usually twice a year.
  • Last year when j was nursing I found Wonderbras at Walmart that were actually quite comfy. They come in boxes are are only like $24.00. I can only wear bras with an underwire otherwise there is no point. I am a D, but these worked quite well for me and hopefully you aswell!
  • My regular bra size is 36D but post pregnancy I wore a 38E bra! I really recommend going to a bra or nursing store that specializes in fittings a few weeks post partum. I would have never thought I needed that size. It was SO worth the $50 bra. I bought just one nude bra and wore it when I left the house. I wore nursing tanks that rest of the time.
  • I was medium-large, and I loved everything from target! they had a nice selection of wired/wireless, and lots of different sizes.

  • Ewa Michalak is my go to. I wish I'd discovered her earlier. I was just unhooking my bra and moving it out of the way. 3 babies in a row. Ha
  • Thank you, everyone! Off to look some of these up and possibly take a shopping trip.

I will apparently have to check out Nordstrom. I was a 32DD to start. A lot of these suggestions don't cater to small band/large cup issues, but some looking around at Nordstrom online have a few suggestions that come in actual bra sizes with underwires. I will probably go shopping in the next week or so and report back in case anyone else needs the info. I can't do wireless or anything with just small, medium, large type sizing-if the band fits the boobs come out the top! Also Walmart, Target, Kohl's, etc don't carry 32 or 34 in big cups in any of my experiences.

  • I'm not quite that big (DD) but I use the Dairy Fairy. They were recommended again and again on my last BMB so I finally splurged, and they're awesome.

They are not underwire, super comfy, and keep things in their place. They're also relatively pretty. A bit pricey but was so worth it to me to look and feel good.

@RideNRunMomma Nordstrom in my experience has the best selection for bigger sizes, especially with the smaller band size. I'm a 36 G/H, when I was younger I was a 32 G and they were the only place I could find bras AND they had bigger bras that were pretty instead of the ones you see other places that have like three inch wide straps and are the color of dirty carpet. My favorite brands are Freya and Chantelle. They are spendy but they last a long time if you take care of them. I'm considering going there for nursing bras too because all my normal ones are too tight right now!

Target is really annoying in that they don't carry the larger cup sizes. Pregnancy and nursing make boobs bigger, so make bigger sizes. Get with the program Target. (I haven't been to the other stores to look for bras so I'm excluding them from this rant.)

  • I lived in the nursing tank tops from Target. No bra other than that worked for me. Love those tank tops though and will be using them again!

I'm in your boat- 32DDD and have been going exclusively to Nordstrom for years now. Go into the store and have them measure you. They treat you like gold and know what's up. I usually end up buying a bunch of the ones I like. Nothing worse than buying the perfect t only to learn they stopped making it. It's expensive but having your boobs where they should be and comfortable makes all your clothes look better
  • Nordstrom. I got an Elle McPherson one. It was a 36G. Absolute godsend, no chance of wearing a nursing tank....not enough support.

  • I'm really sad now that Nordstrom's isn't opening till next summer in Toronto. After my doctor's appointment tomorrow I'm on the hunt for large cup size comfy undergarments.
  • I'm still in my bra but it's a 42C and it doesn't have any underwire. Very comfy and stretchy. I don't feel like my boobs have grown at all.
  • I'll let you know when I unpack my maternity cloths. I got fitted and it was like I was a new woman!
  • I buy all my bras from Lady Grace or online at HerRoom.com. both have online ordering. I have found Goddess and Le mystere to be perfect for me and I'm a 34G right now.

  • Also, a lot of specialty places can convert regular bras to nursing, though I hear they're less discreet and functional.
  • Bringing back this thread.  I'm looking for recommendations for sports bras for giant boobs.  I was 36F before pregnancy and have only gotten bigger.  Suggestions?
  • @austinjl - try the Maia bra from Moving Comfort (subsidiary of Brooks). This is my all-time favorite bra and I've actually been wearing it as my regular bra for the past couple of months. It has hooks and an underwire so it's super supportive and actually encapsulates and separates the girls.  While it doesn't technically only goes up to E, I'm well beyond that right now (probably a large G), and the 34E fits me well. Well worth the price, and if you have a local running store they may carry it there. Pre-pregnancy this was my running bra and it is VERY supportive even for high impact activities.

  • @austinjl I got Bravado bras (I was also a 36F pre pregnancy and am now outgrowing my, gulp, H cup bras). The two I bought are super comfortable even though they are a bit small
  • Thanks ladies!!!!!
  • Does Nordstrom Rack also carry maternity bras, or just Nordstrom?

  • Thanks for this thread this is super helpful... I got my last few at Target a month ago or so but I had to grab the largest sizes and so I know I'll have to hunt for them somewhere else in the near future... I also have a small band larger cup issue (though the discrepancy has shrunk a bit with pregnancy). I've never shopped at Nordstrom but I should probably give it a go...
  • I order my bras off of barenecessities.com.  I am up to a 36H :-(
  • Where do you guys get measured for your size? I have definitely had a size increase this pregnancy but I am shit at figuring out my size and guessing isn't going that well....
  • @theshannondee - I have never found measurements to be accurate for me. I just need to try a bunch of different ones and see which ones fit the "right way" (meaning the front panel is against your breastbone and the band is just tight enough). I have gotten measured once a long time ago at Lady Grace but even then they said my measurements didn't make sense based on what size actually fit. I would think Nordstrom would be a good option because the women who work there are experienced. Every time I've been in VS, they've been clueless.

  • @sboston06  Thanks!  I love Nordstrom, I should just go in there. I keep finding gorgeous back cleavage going on so I know my band is too tight, I need to figure something out fast.
  • Check out target clearance I got several there for a quarter of the price !

  • @theshannondee Definitely get measured at Nordstrom. They are the only ones that were able to get me into some good, comfortable, well fitting bras. I haven't been back since pregnant, but I will go soon.
  • @sboston06 Oh Lady Grace! You're making me so nostalgic. I grew up in MA but moved to CO and we don't have LG out here. I'm wondering if Nordstrom would do a decent job of it. LG was the only place who ever measured me correctly and got me into a bra that fit correctly. I don't dare buy anything off the internet because as they'll tell you, every single bra fits differently!
July BMB Siggy Challenge: Weird Hot Dog Situations
  • Nordstrom is the only place to ever fit me correctly. Don't get fitted at the rack, the training for fittings is rudimentary (I worked there!) and not entirely accurate. But once you have a size to work with, I love shopping for bras at the rack because they have some of the spendier brands for half the price if you're lucky.
  • I use a brand called Elomi and buy the 3912 smoothing underwire nursing bra. I get mine on Amazon.  I am at 36 G and this is the most supportive , best shaping nursing bra that I have found. It's pretty heavy duty.
  • Try herrroom.com. All sizes and brands, with reviews and tips. I feel your pain, I'm a 36 H and counting. I also like Nordstrom, and Panache, Chantelle brands. I can't do tanks, either, they'd be down to my waist! Gotta keep those girls supported! I can't relate to buying bras at Target- it would sure save a lot of money, but it's really not a good suggestion for truly big busted mamas! Get a good fitting bra even if it's pricey- it's worth it!
