My baby has acne today on side of his face. I don't wash his face daily but at every bath which is 2-3 times a week. I used cetaphil today on his face. What do you do? Do you wash it daily with water?
Some babies are, unfortunately, more sensitive to hormones than others and therefore will be more prone to baby acne. My poor kiddo gets double whammied because he's extemely sensitive to heat, which leads to some pretty intense heat rash on his face, neck, back, and chest. And of course we live in Hawaii, so the poor baby can't ever get away from the heat, even though it's the middle of December. Because of the acne and the heat, we give him a bath every night. It's just become part of his bedtime routine. We use soap maybe once or twice a week, but for the most part, we just rinse him down with warm water to clean any sweat off his skin and to make sure there is no spit up residue on him. What has made the biggest difference for us, skin wise, is a warm washcloth gently over his face (eyes to clear his tear ducts, cheeks, forehead, nose, chin, neck folds), and that has kept his face pretty clear for the past month and a half.

I wash his face everyday in the bathtub. I just use a warm washcloth: wipe each eye then forehead, cheeks, and nose/chin. I don't use any type of soap but put a small amount of Vaseline in dry areas around his mouth (from drooling).
@ktewart - it's December and no one on the main land can get away from this heat have you tried coconut oil for the heat rash? We would rub the oil on the our baby after ever bath. As for washing the face... We don't really do it. Sometimes I just clean it with water during bathtime.
Mine had acne too but it cleared up after a few weeks and he just gets occasional pimples now. I use a washcloth to wipe it every night during his bath. Just water, no soap.
Bath with warm washcloth and Johnsons baby wash every 3 Days (unless needed immediately). I use Burts Bees hand and face wipes on in between days. For breakouts I use Vaseline and it usually clears up in a day or so. You may want to try more sensitive formulas like Aveeno baby just to be safe?
We wash her face everyday during her bath with just water and wash cloth and they I wipe her face off during the day as needed, but honestly I don't think babies need soaps on their face, their skin is sensitive (at least my girl has very sensitive skin), and honestly my own face does better when I just use simple face soap and warm water followed by a light lotion, everytime I buy all the fancy washes and creams I seem to break out more.
I'll occasionally put a little breastmilk on any bumps or rashes - it's a miracle cure!!! Other than that I wipe his face with mildly soapy water - I use Burts Bees - every other day in the day. I also make sure to wipe excess saliva with a dry cloth.
Just whatever you do - don't treat it like adult acne. My doctor told me some parents try to pop the "pimples"! This is not only painful for baby, but caused more problems as the "pimples" aren't truly pimples. Eek! Just stick with gentle care and let it clear on its own. If it gets bad, call your dr.
I just use warm water and a facecloth on her face. If it's dry, coconut oil. For the patches of cradle cap on her forehead I let coconut oil soak, then use Dr Bronner's castile soap. Then put a dab of coconut oil on after.
My baby had acne for about 4-6 weeks after birth. We used aveno on a washcloth and that helped. Mostly it just took time..I was very impatient but now her skin is amazing.
