I had my 20 week ultra sound I am 21 weeks today but we found out our little girl will have club feet. We know it can be fixed but still scary has anyone had a child go through this that can shine some light on us a little we are lost with this info. We know she is perfect no matter what:)
My dad was born club footed and that was back in 1961. He wore braces on his legs and recovered really well. He was very active in sports and you can never tell that it ever affected him.

A friend of mine's first son was born with one club foot. To my understanding there were several surgeries and braces and casts, but he's almost 7 now and you would never know he had a club foot. The surgeries and rehabs and having a baby and then toddler in different braces and casts was really hard on my friend emotionally - it's very hard to watch your child go through anything medical, you feel very helpless as a mother.
I suggest you ask for a referral to a specialist, and get started on some counseling to help you process everything that your family will be dealing with.
I've never experienced this personally but have known someone that did. Everything turned out fine and to this day, you wouldn't even know they had been born that way if they didn't tell you. I'd try not to stress (I know it's hard) over it and be happy that you're having a healthy baby.

My sister was born with club feet and severely pigeon toed. She didn't have a single surgery. All they did was put her in casts that slowly tweaked and straightened he little legs and feet. Casts were changed twice a week (she liked playing in the dogs water bowl), and I think she was out of them by the time she was 3 or 4? They didn't start the casts until She was starting to stand on her own, so since you already know that your DD will need something most likely, your Drs may be more likely to get on it way earlier.
Before my babies, I worked in orthopaedic surgery. We had many referrals for club foot (mostly they were firstborn babies) - in many cases we just were casted the newborns, and recasted every few weeks. The casts are definitely an inconvenience (as they are at any age) but the babies do very well with them. More severe cases needing surgical correction we would send to the children's specialists. Prognosis and outcomes were always favorable. I wouldn't jump into counseling or anything yet until you know what you're dealing with. Surgery on your child absolutely can definitely be scary, but there's no sense in focusing on that anxiety when it may not even be necessary. Breathe and take it one step at a time. You've totally got this, mama!

My daughter was born with clubfeet almost 8 years ago. We found a great orthopedic who specialized in treating clubfeet through a casting procedure called - The Ponseti Method. We did this for 3 months and now she's an active little girl who does ballet and walks just fine take a deep breath and search for an orthopedic she will be just fine you'll notice that it'll hurt you more to see her in cast than it will bother her. Please read my blog below if you get a chance https://mimijohnson.blogspot.com/?m=0
My son was diagnosed with a club foot at my 20 week ultrasound and he is now an active 7 year old. We met with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon before he was born. He began to have his foot turned and casted at 1 week. This happened weekly and then bi weekly. At 3 months he had to wear special shoes attached to a bar. Then at 15 weeks he had a surgery to release his tenden in order for his heel to drop. He did go back in a cast at age 2 for a little bit. My son is a normal boy with no limitations. He will though always have a thinner leg and smaller foot compared to the other side. Everyone says they don't notice until told. Best of luck and it will be ok!
@nicolinam3 I know you are trying to be helpful, but this is a old zombie thread. The OP has not been on since Feb and the child would already have been born.
