Unless someone else wants to take care of it, I can try to get book club stuff posted on Mondays. I'll have two weeks off because of Winter Break (December 19th-January 4th), unless we just want to let it be open to whomever wants to post first...

Just think it might be easier to have one or two people lead per book. I don't know. This is the "teacher reflex" that @LINDSEYRVA was talking about.

This would be great! I'm new to the boards but I'm an avid bookworm. Currently reading the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris. My hubby bought me all of them to keep me busy while TTC.

Love it! I'm currently not working, so I'd be happy to help you out on this when you get back into work. Love the teacher reflex!

So... Monday after Christmas will signify the beginning of week 1?

Thanks for the poll! Let's stick with "All the Light" and then we can poll later.

Put first post for this would be on December 21st, that would give people enough time to finish their current reads and then to start "All the Light."

I get Kindle books for free from my library online, its through Overdrive. You can go to the overdrive website and search libraries near you, then you just have to get a library card to use the online library.

@FerdieFox That's what I usually do, but the wait is crazy long for good books. As in, I just waited three months for the Cheryl Strayed book.

ETA: I just looked and I've had the Amy Poehler book on hold since May 10th. Yikes.

Which Cheryl Strayed book? I read Wild back in 2012 when it first came out and it was one of those books that I couldn't get over and had to take a break after reading before I could pick up another one. I havne't read her new one yet, I think it's called "Brave Enough". She's a badass lady.

I love this idea!  Books are my escape, and I'm always ready to hear new suggestions.  I'm a big historical fiction (mainly medieval England/France) fan and I'm in the middle of the Saxon Chronicles right now that tie around the rise of Alfred the Great.

I was leaning towards starting the Outlander series after I finish up this one!

I haven't! I don't do podcasts much for some reason. I got really into the Savage Lovecast a while back and then got behind and stopped listening all together. He plugs Dear Sugar a lot!

Ugh!!! I totally didn't know Wild was a book before seeing the movie. I saw the previews and was super duper excited bc dh and I are avid backcountry backpackers. I had such high hopes. Dashed. then I found out it was a book and I know I would have really enjoyed that book... But I'm hesitant now bc the movie was so... Blah. But the movies always are... Right? @KDHB13 @MRSCORKER

@gardeniagirlknits The Wild movie was super blah. I had really high hopes after the book because the book was so good. It's more about her personal journey for which she uses hiking as a catalyst. The hiking isn't what it's really about, if that makes sense.

@MRSCORKER - I ALWAYS suggest "Blink"...it's in the 3rd season of New Who (The newer episodes). Watch that episode. If you like it, start back at the beginning of New Who and go from there. I had friends who made the mistake of starting at the very beginning and they lost interest. David Tennant is MY Doctor. I love him, but the newest one, Peter Capaldi, is definitely growing on me. :)

If you like Doctor Who, you should look into Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch.
    Are they on Netflix?

@MRSCORKER and If you aren't doing anything with your holidays (see: me) BBC America always runs a Doctor Who Marathon leading up to the Christmas Special. So you can set your DVR and fill it up pretty quick! ;)

@KDHB13 - The current season of Doctor Who is not on Netflix, but they have Classic Doctor Who and New Doctor Who on Netflix. Classic Who is from when the show first started in the 1960s, and New Who started in 2005. The show went on a but of a hiatus but was brought back in 2005. If interested, definitely go with "Blink" in the 3rd season of New Who.

Love this idea! I read constantly, and right now I'm reading Inception by Bianca Scardoni. My favorite author is Colleen Hoover and I just read her newest book called November 9, it was amazing! I like anything from Twilight to 50 Shades, pretty much anything that catches my attention and keeps me interested I'll read.
I love Colleen Hoover also I"ll have to look that one up!  I just finished "The Mistletoe Promise" such a cute holiday read.

For those who have already read All The Light, if I read and reasonably enjoyed The Book Thief will I tolerate this book?  I'm not really in to WWII era books based on my experience, but AM interested in the book club idea with you ladies.

I'm currently reading Wool by Hugh Howey.

Has anyone ever read The Girl on the Train?  I keep seeing that recommended to me on Amazon and it sounds pretty good.  I'm more in to crime/thrillers & sci-fi/horror than warm fuzzy.  The darker the better.

@MrsBinPA I didn't read the book thief so I can't weigh in there. I did read The Girl on the Train. I started it on a rainy Saturday morning and finished it before dinner. It's quick and easy, best described as a beach read. I wasn't in love with it but it did keep me interested enough to read all day. A little depressing, a little predictable but enjoyable.
