Nap Routine Win!

We've had a bedtime routine in place since we brought LO home. We've had to tweak the timing of it a bit but we now have to down pat and our son is asleep within 20mins of going upstairs (95% of the time).

For naps, I would watch for sleepy cues but didn't have any type of routine at all. Well we have dealt with inconsistency and "fighting" naps for a few weeks. So I started a nap routine, very basic, and it is SO SO much easier now! He is asleep within 10mins of going upstairs.

I just wanted to share because I hadn't really thought of a routine a nap time, just at bed time, but it's definitely helped us.

Re: Nap Routine Win!

  • I think I'm going to have to try this. We have a night routine and he's a great nighttime sleeper. But there is no consistent nap routine and so nothing consistent about his naps either. Thanks! :)

  • Our nap routines with both boys are basically just condensed versions of our bedtime routines.
  • Just wondering- do you basically just do your bedtime routine for naps or are you doing something different?
  • It's more or less a condensed version of our bedtime routine (minus bath & change of clothes). I draw the blinds, turn on the fan, read a short book with him on my lap, nurse if he wants, cuddle till eyes are droopy (if not already), and into the crib sleepy but awake.
