Hi ladies so this is my second pregnancy, and I had my first born natural and it was sooo painful but all worth it. This pregnancy I'm going to try my hardest not to get any again, but I would like to know your perspective on epidural? I'm just getting a little nervous about how I'm going to do this again because with the first I was so calm only because I didn't know what it was going to feel like and now that I do I'm just getting a little anxious here lol (I'm 37 weeks, due dec 13th)
Oh goodness, my perspective on an epidural... I was in such intense pain (back labor, felt like someone was ripping my spine out) that when the anesthesiologist gave me the epidural I would have left my husband and married him. Haha, it was a life saver. In all honesty, each one of us handles pain differently, and no labor is ever the same. You could have a super easy 2nd labor or a harder labor, but sadly there isn't a way to determine it. My thoughts are "Why put yourself through pain when we have pain management options?" Now, I do not believe an epidural at all effects the baby. But you do have some ladies who think differently about the effects on the baby. I've met women who want to experience child birth because it's "beautiful". I am not at all by any means hating on those moms. In my opinion, yes child birth is beautiful since you're welcoming your baby into the world, but it's also messy and gross. In the end it's all about what makes you comfortable. Go in with a simple birth plan of "let's keep this easy and simple" you may shock yourself and have another natural labor, but don't be ashamed if you're like me and screaming for that darn epidural. ;-)
We have talked about this several times and there were lots os great stories and opinions that have been shared in those earlier posts which may be really beneficial to you
