Gioia (joy-ah) italian-real name spelled correctly
I had one Italian name chosen. Neither my husband nor i are italian but around week 18 of my pregnancy, I discovered that the Italian pronunciation of Celeste was che-LES-teh and I almost died. I looked at DH and said "Oh wow, 'chelesteh.." and he's like "NO."

Love Celeste!!! We are very italian but he still didnt like it We went with gianna instead
Our girl name would be the same, DH loves my first choice. For a boy, if I had no veto power, DH would name the baby Ronin. If I had my choice, it would be Gabriel.
Henry August. I mentioned Henry and he initially vetoed, then a few weeks later decided he loved it too. He isn't so fond of August, but it was my grandpas middle and I love it.
If I had zero veto power our son would be Kevin Hewitt. Not my taste, not my style in the least. I would regret naming my child that for the rest of my life.
I LOVE Frances / Francis, too. But my husband hates it. Totally bums me out.

My H vetoes all my favorite names because he says they're too "old lady." If it were all up to me we'd be choosing between Beatrice, Clementine, and Sylvie.
You guys chose some great names. Men are really bad at this..
My husband wanted Polly. I didn't veto it and in fact, I believe we had settled on it for about a month. But he had never had strong opinions about a girl's name. We could potentially have had a Sara on our hands but for the fact that he has about six exes named Sara so the fact that he even brought it up was super-offensive to me and the hormones. He also liked Laura. I didn't veto it exactly but it didn't feel right.
i probably would have named my son Carter or Marshall if my SO had no say in his name. however, i do REALLY like the name Preston. so I'm glad he shut those down, hahaha.
DH would have named one of our boys Mars. I kid you not. He wanted to use that name with every single one, I obviously vetoed. I wanted to name DS3 Oliver in the worst way but DH vetoed.

My SO is proof of this.
We can't settle on a middle name, actually he has vetoed every single one and can't come up with his own ideas. He told me to go ahead and pick one because I got angry at him for not making a list, this kid is coming Monday and I want a mn for him. We will likely have a Henry August. Much better than Kevin Hewitt or Henry Hewitt (he can't understand why this one is awful).
DD would have been Penelope (which he was fine with) but he wanted the NN Nelly and I wanted Poppy. He insisted on Kimber but I never even gave an inch on that. DD ended up Piper which was sort of a compromise, but fits her perfectly
DH vetoed DS2 name right up until he was born. Then he decided it fit.
Other names he vetoed were Ryan, Beckett, Colton (which was good in hindsight), and Stellan.
My husband originally said no right out the gate on our daughter's name (a name i literally threw out there like "Oh i dunno.. what about this?") but then discovered that if you say it with his last name really fast, it sounds like "I love you" and he almost wet himself and now he won't hear of anything else.
That is such a random criteria on choosing your child's name. But we finally agreed on something so i don't push it.
We're not having a boy so it doesn't matter, and he hadn't exactly vetoed it, but originally I was thinking Simon for a boy and then I remembered Rufus. I think I might have pushed for Rufus.
I've been pushing for Etta. I just love it and want to use it so bad, but my husband has completely vetoed it. Won't even consider it two months later. I've vetoed a couple of his too so unfortunately it's fair. So I had to give it up and we compromised on another name.
Baby #3 due February. Dx with Spina Bifida Myelo "good things are coming down the road, just don't stop walking"
DH totally vetoed Ruby Dawn if DS had been a girl. Dawn is after my mom so if we ever have a girl that will be the MN and we agree on that. I love Ruby as a FN though so that's what we named our dog instead
Re: Vetoed!
Are my saddest vetoes I can think of off the top of my head .
I wish I was kidding.

We're going with Zoe. What a drastic difference right? Lol
Sybil, Adeline
Xavier (zavier, not ek-zavier) would be for a boy. We're done after this girl, though.
My gut says that we have the same #2 name of our top 5 list and different #1's so we'll likely end up with #2, but we'll see come spring
If we have a future DD, she would be Lena Jean or at least Lena something. H has already vetoed but I still have time to work on him....;)

If I had no veto- he would likely have chosen Zsabrina.
