Baby Names

Opinions on Jarrett?

Hi ladies! My DH and I have decided to go with family names for this baby. If it's a girl, we'll be naming her Grace, after my Grandmother. If it's a boy, DH is leaning towards Jarrett. It's a family name on my side (my father's middle name, most recently). It's growing on me, but I'd love some honest opinions.

Re: Opinions on Jarrett?

  • I know someone named Jarrett that I'm not fond of... That being said I liked the name before I got to know him ;)

Any other family names you are considering?

    Haha.. That's the front runner.
We've got a lot of Joseph, Luke, Michaels and 'juniors' around.
Option B would be Robert (Rob or Robbie, not bob), and Jarrett as a middle name.
If we go with Jarrett, Lee is the middle name.

  • I know a few guys with this name but haven't really seen it come up on here:) it's nice, I kinda prefer Jared but it's a solid name.
  • I think it's a perfectly good name. Unfortunately, you may want to consider having to go through "Jared?" "No, Jarrett" on a frequent basis.

This and Garrett. It's not a bad name though. I like it much better than Robert/Robbie.
  • I dont hate it. The only one I know in real life spells it 'Jerit' but not sure if there's a 'correct' spelling or not. The spelling will probably be questioned regardless.

    This.
I'm worried about this.. My DH thinks it's fine.. But I don't want to hear Jared? Jerry? Garrett? Etc..

@MelissaM090 I've seen it spelled a bunch of different ways, but I figure if we stick with the family spelling then at least my family won't have an opinion about the spelling ;)

I don't know why, but the girl name fell into place so easily! I feel like I have a mental block for a boy.
Thanks for the comments ladies- I've got some things to ponder.
  • Love Grace, do not love Jarrett. Sounds made up.

It's growing on me too.. It was my grandmother's maiden name, my dad's middle name, and my brother's middle name, so I'd love to continue the tradition.
    Decisions, decisons!
  • I like the name Jarrett, but I have to agree with the previous poster that mentioned that Jarrett/Jared thing. I know someone IRL named Jarrett, and he is constantly getting "Jared", whether someone thinks that they heard Jared instead of Jarrett, or they haven't seen him for awhile and think that they recall his name to be Jared, and start calling him that.
