Weight gain/loss

Any one behind on the weight gain? Like gained a pound and by next appointment lost the only pound you had gained.

Re: Weight gain/loss

  • I haven't gained or lost at all. Still sitting at where I was before pregnancy. Dr doesn't seem worried yet, and I'm 18 weeks, so I'm not going to stress either.
  • I'm 14 weeks and have only gained about 2 lbs back of the 12 that I lost during the first trimester. I was really sick, couldn't eat much, and couldn't work out, so I'm sure most of the weight lost was muscle mass. I finally had enough energy this week to make it to the gym so hopefully I'll be able to get some of that back.

  • Struggling with weight but I'm honestly not too worried yet. I lost almost 10 in the beginning, but have been eating healthy and exercising more this pregnancy than my last. I gained a pound this past month and the Dr asked "you're eating, right? " I said of course and she moved right along with the appt. It's still earlier on, but I'm keeping my eye on it also.

  • I am 16w4d my husband thinks I should be bigger by now. Each apt my doctor measures my belly any says I'm the right size. My belly is now farther than my breast, 36b. So I feel that's good?

When does the actual weight start to come and keep coming?
  • I lost 4 pounds in first tri and have only gained back 2. I started gaining a pound a week at 20 weeks last pregnancy and looks like I'm following the same pattern this time. I carried really small (My belly only measured 34w when I gave birth) and the baby was 7.5lbs. The size of your bump really isn't a good indicator as to whether the baby is healthy or not. The weight gain will come, trust me lol. Harder said than done but just enjoy being one of the lucky ones :)

  • Hah!  Quite the opposite.  I've gained 18lbs so far.  I gained 50 with DD and had her 2 1/2 weeks early so I'm not expecting anything else.  I eat healthy most of the time and clean houses for a living so i'm constantly moving.  I wouldn't worry about not gaining much yet tho- some people don't gain very much in the beginning.

  • I'm 16 weeks and haven't gained. I actually lost in the first trimester. I started overweight though and Dr. only wants me to gain 15-20lbs whole pregnancy so trying to eat healthy and drink lots of water and do a lot of walking to help keep weight gain to only what baby needs and not because all I have wanted is candy and juice. Lol.

  • I am 16 weeks and I actually lost 6 pounds between my first and second prenatal appointment. They said it's normal because I started out overweight and I've been getting sick a few times per week.

I'm just glad that was the case because I want to keep the weight gain in a healthy range and I haven't been eating the most healthy because of all of my food aversions. I'm waiting for the sickness and aversions to go away so that I can start being more active and eating healthier.
  • I'm 15 weeks and have lost 17 pounds so far. I am obese though, so during both this pregnancy and my last my doctor hasn't been concerned. She says that as long as baby is growing at the appropriate rate and is healthy there is no need to stress about the weight loss. Sadly being pregnant has been the best diet I have ever been on. I lost over 30 pounds with DD (she was born perfectly healthy at 41 weeks weighing 9 lbs 10 oz, which is huge, but no c-section or complications) and this time I think I might even lose more weight with this one if my last pregnancy was any indicator of what is to come. Every woman is different and every pregnancy is different though. There is still plenty of time for me to start packing on the pounds.

Up to last week I was neutral (16w). I'm away from home so haven't weighted this week yet. I don't mind being behind as I started a bit overweight, as long as I'm eating healthy (which I am) I'll just keep going with the flow.
  • At my 16w appointment I was told that I hadn't gained enough weight.

  • 14+5 and I'm down several pounds from pre-preg. Mostly it's from nausea and cutting back on treats and sweets. The nurse practitioner made a comment about whether I thought I was eating enough but honestly I'm not worried. I was overweight to start the pregnancy (although at my lowest start weight of any of my pregnancies-yay me ;) and I need to keep my weight gain to a minimum. My first pregnancy I lost 20lbs and had a perfectly healthy baby 7.13 lbs. My second pregnancy I only gained a few lbs and had a healthy 9lb baby.

  • I'm about a pound under or right at normal. If your dr isn't concerned you shouldn't be either.

Ditto.  I was pretty slim to begin with but my doctor isn't concerned that I haven't gained (15 weeks), so I'm not stressing it.
  • I'm 15w2d, no weight gain or loss. I can't wait to have my bump!

I started out at 165 and am now at 145, I'm about 14w, mw hasn't said anything but she never asked my start weight either. :/ I've been eating a lot but I don't seem to be gaining anything. Oh, also, I'm 5'8 so I wasn't really over weight or anything to begin with.

Your midwife didn't get a starting weight for your pregnancy? I would consider a new practitioner.
