Swaddled or unswaddled for night time feedings

Do you unswaddle your LO for night time feedings or keep them bundled up? I have tried both, just wondering what others do!

Re: Swaddled or unswaddled for night time feedings

  • We use an arms-free sleep sack and keep baby in it for nighttime feedings. He usually falls back asleep while nursing so then I can easily put him back to bed without waking him.
  • I leave her swaddled to keep her as close to sleep as possible.

  • We use a swaddle me velcro blanket but leave his arms free, and I keep him in for nighttime feedings!
  • I unswaddle him because he's usually fighting to get out or a hand has already escaped. When he's done on one side I change his diaper (mainly to wake him back up cause he will fall asleep) swaddle him again then feed the other side. Sometimes I'm so tired I only feed one side, but then he's awake 1-2 hours later and then it's a hard cycle to break!
  • We have her in a swaddle me Velcro sack. Sometimes her hands peek out which is too cute. It varies but usually unswaddle the arms during night feeding unless like last night she was super sleepy and I left her swaddled. But then I unswaddle change diaper go back to feeding and back to bed. All within 15 min it was great!
  • I have an ergo baby swaddler... It's easy for diaper changes and let's her arm be "hands to heart". If I don't unswaddled her, sometimes she will be too sleepy and only eat on one side. Sometimes I'll reswade after a diaper change, but I only change messy diapers in the motn

  • I use a Velcro swaddle sack usually but even if I use a swaddle blanket I take him out of it. I change his diaper and then start the feeding. He doesn't have an issue falling back asleep and almost always falls asleep as I burp him so I gently place him back in the sack that I left on his mattress and wrap him back up
  • I have to unswaddle because LO will fight to escape. He doesn't like to be swaddled but sleeps better when he is so I have to swaddle him when he's pretty much out.

  • For me it's a toss up. On one hand, I like to change her at least once in the middle of the night but I don't want to wake her up. On the other hand, I want her to be awake enough during feedings but not flailing her hands and getting them in the way. Often I leave her swaddled when she wakes up, unswaddle, change her diaper, re-swaddle, and switch sides before laying he back down.

  • The halo sleep sack has a zipper, so I partially unzip him to change the diaper, zip everything back up and velco him in, feed him, and back to sleep.

Taking him in and out of the sleeper jostles him enough to where it would wake him. However... 3:30am diaper blowouts there is no going around it since I turn the lights on and swaddle off to make sure I cleaned everything up.
