Well, I've got it again...I had this when I was pregnant with my son nine years ago, but do NOT remember it hitting so early! I'm only five weeks. Anywho - I know it's not uncommon or dangerous, but wondering if anyone has found anything that helps. Online, I see recommendations for "pelvic floor strengthening exercises and the like, but without any specifics...
I had this last time. I saw a chiro and it helped a bit - but my friend saw a physiotherapist who specialized in pelvic floor therapy. Dunno if you have anyone like that in your area?
I had it with my daughter, but it didn't happen until I was about 18 weeks. I got one of those symphysis pubis belts and it made moving around more bearable.
Boy I was young & dumb - I didn't know any of these things existed, and I probably never mentioned it to my midwife! I have seen a chiro in the past - I could ask him, though I guess I'm a bit nervous about seeing someone while pregnant.
As for the belt - wowsers! Really dumb question, but I guess this goes under your pants/skirt? So better with stretchy maternity stuff, I suppose, right?
Chiro saved my life both times. It came on at 4 weeks with my 2nd & by 12 weeks I was seriously contemplating a wheelchair. I switched to a different chiro & he did a different technique & I was able to be mostly pain free the rest of pregnancy as long as I went regularly. All my midwives & OBs have recommended chiropractic care during pregnancy. Depending on the belt it can be worn under or over clothing. With my SI-Loc I used it over my clothes. I'm getting a different one at the recommendation of a new midwife & friends, Baby Belly Band. This one will be worn under my clothes. It can be dangerous. There are instances where the ligaments have torn necessitating surgery or leaving you wheelchair bound. It's very rare but it happens. Giving birth on all 4s or standing helps prevent that.
I had SPD with my first. It hit around the beginning of 3rd tri and continued for a few months PP. I still have slight issues if I run over 10 miles.
My OB said it will likely happen earlier and be worse this time. She recommended pelvic girdle exercises to try and build strength.

Thank you, this is helpful. These look like similar things I do during yoga, so I will try them.
On the bright side, the pain is much improved today. I guess I overdid it Monday with an 8-mile walk...my friend & I usually take a weekly exercise walk, I may have to make them a bit shorter for the moment!!

I hope it makes a difference for you! Glad your pain is feeling better! I haven't noticed any pain yet...but I know it is inevitable.
