Gastroschisis?

A few weeks ago my doctor discovered that my baby has gastroschisis, it is a birth defect where the abdominal wall does not properly form causing the intestines and bowel to be outside of the baby's body. I am now seeing a specialist who seems fairly confident that the baby will be okay, he will just have to have surgery when he is born and stay in the hospital for about a month to make sure he is healing and absorbing nutrients properly. I was wondering if any other moms have heard of, or had any experience with this, I am just looking for some reassurance! I know this will be a long and tough journey, I'm a FTM

    One of my best friends was born with this condition and is a healthy and normal adult. Just hang in there, we're here for you!
