I'm so tired and can't sleep! Any tips/tricks to help?

I'm 6wks,1day today and I'm exhausted. My body feels tired to where my eyes start futtering close, but when I get to slumber, I am awake a few moments later. It happened last night and I couldn't go back to sleep for nothing. Idk if its because I can't find a comfy position or what. Help!! Any advice would help me tremendously.

Thank you!!

  • Early in your pregnancy, you'll start feeling very sleepy during the day. High levels of progesterone bring on this sudden craving for naps. Progesterone is a hormone that helps regulate a woman's reproductive cycle. It also makes you drowsy.

The flood of this hormone can make a normal day at work seem as taxing as running a marathon. You may feel so worn out that you think you're coming down with the flu.

Strangely enough, progesterone can disrupt your sleep at night, leading to even more fatigue during the day. All you can do is rest as much as possible and grab a quick catnap whenever you can.
  • Try taking some benadryl or unisom (doxylamine) at night.

  • Unisom saved me. Was also the only thing that could get my nausea (slightly) under control.
  • I felt better with a body pillow to lean on and puy between my legs. You can try warm milk. I have all so been using some eucalyptus pillow spary or a rub called Breath Easy from The Honest Co. It helps be relax and fall asleep faster but i still wake up too pee or other discomforts. I had more insomnia around wk 6 but has gotten better over time. Ill be 13 wks on sat. Next thing for me is a new matress.
  • I was having trouble sleeping even with the Unisom.  I was tossing and turning for over two weeks, because I couldn't get comfy.  It was like there was pressure on the side of my chest.  I thought maybe it was gas-related.  Took some Gas-X for a couple of night, but it didn't help.

I had a sight cold the other weekend, then last week I developed a cough, which made sleeping even more difficult.  I took some plain Robitussin, used vapor rub, took steamy showers, and used the humidifier with vapor.  I feel so much better, and I'm sleeping much better.  I think it was congestion putting pressure on my chest.  I read that pregnancy can cause deep congestion.  I have an appointment this week, and I'm going to ask him about it.
