ever had 39+ days between cycles? I currently have Paragard IUD in, and have had it for about 3 years. I felt like its been a while since my last visit from AF. When I checked my last period I was pretty shocked to find that it has been 39 days since the first day of my last period. Before Paragard, my periods were textbook- 28 days between cycles every month to the T. I just went back and tracked that there were 32 days between my previous cycles. I just feel like my periods keep getting further and further apart with this IUD. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

I don't have any experience with IUDs, but cycles can change. If you are that concerned you should talk to your doctor. 39 days isn't that long though, it's generally not something you worry about unless it's been 60+ days between cycles.
I have to say I'm kind of confused on why you put this on a TTGP board.
Like lulu said though, cycles change.
I personally had the paraguard as well and saw a bit of a shift to heavier periods with a longer stint in between cycles. But I know some that their cycle didn't change at all. Every woman's body is different.
It's pretty common to not have a period at all when you have an IUD, but why you posted this here, amongst a bunch of women actively trying to get pregnant is beyond me....
I had the Mirena IUD and stopping getting my period completely after a couple months. It was one of the benefits for me.
this.
OP, talk to your doctor if you're concerned, but it sounds like the range of normal to me. your cycle length can change at any time, as frustrating as that can be
Just as a PSA, the paraguard is also known as the copper IUD. It has no hormones (Unlike the mirena) to really mess with your cycle which is why I chose it. The copper acts as a spermicide. The implant itself causes a thicker CM so the sperm can't get to the egg. It also thins the uterine lining that way In the very very unlikely chance an egg is fertilized, it does not have the option to implant. I don't know the science behind it but any outside force put in your body has the ability to affect your cycles. Your body naturally does not want this inside you and IUDs are still relatively new In humans so data is still being collected. Fun fact, rocks were once placed inside heifers/cows so they didn't breed. From what I have read this is the very beginning of the IUD concept
Yep. Check out my chart- last month I had a 45 day cycle. didn't do anything different besides some stress due to a presentation I had to give at work. This caused delayed ovulation.
Like others mentioned, cycles change and can vary in length from cycle to cycle.
Also, and I could need more coffee-- but if you think you are pregnant on paraguard-- you need to take an HPT right away and if its positive contact your doc immediately. Initially I was going to answer your question about cycle length-- but I don't have paraguard in and I'm not on any birth control. My cycles are consistently 40-60 days long or longer. I'm still breastfeeding though, so I do have some hormonal flux going on from that biological process.
I know you weren't *technically* asking if you could be pregnant, so please don't get all upset that I assumed that what you really meant. Often when someone asks a question like this on birth control on this board its to get a nudge to take an HPT or an "omg you might be pregnant". SO-- take an HPT if you are concerned. That is always a prudent thing to do.

I have to second this. I believe when I was doing the reading before I got mine (albeit this was ten years ago) that if you got pregnant on paraguard that it had a higher chance of being an ectopic pregnancy.
*edit to add* if you are pregnant and it's a viable pregnancy you need to consult a doctor ASAP to discuss removal of the paraguard.
Ditto to what PP said, Paraguard can mess with cycles. If you're concerned, give your gyn a call to make sure that it is normal, they can usually give you an answer right away over the phone as to if it's normal or not. Additionally, you chose a place to ask this that you aren't going to get a whole lot of answers as no one on here is currently on paraguard since we are all actively trying to get pregnant. I sincerely hope that you aren't fishing for "you're totally pregnant" like PP said.
I had Paragard for 4 years and my cycles were consistently 28 or 29 days long. If you're concerned about your cycles getting progressively longer then I'd suggest talking to a doctor about it. I was told by my doctor that Paragard would not affect my cycle and in my case it turned out to be true.
Thanks for the feedback ladies and I apologize for posting on the wrong board. I have read posts from women on here who are planning on getting pregnant in the near future and were still on birth control, so I thought I would give this board a shot. Reading beyond this may or may not be a trigger for some ladies, so if you are worried about that I would stop reading here. I ended up taking two tests, which both resulted in BFPs. Went to the OB ASAP and had blood drawn and an ultrasound done. The good news is the pregnancy is not tubal. They were able to locate the amniotic sac in the uterus, however no heartbeat was detected YET. I am at an estimated 4-5 weeks gestation so it could be too early to detect it. For those of you who are interested or may be experiencing something similar, the paragard was in fact perfectly intact and in the correct placement, although my doctor ensured me this is extremely rare. I am going back to get my levels retested on Friday to determine if they are increasing or decreasing. Two weeks from tomorrow I will go for another ultrasound. Not sure if anyone is interested in updates or not. Since this is not quite a relevant post for this particular board, I will see my way over to a more appropriate board.

Congratulations, and I hope everything goes well with having the IUD in there. I've heard the odd story about a person who gets pregnant with a properly placed IUD, but wow, that must be incredibly rare!
Oh great, another person is pregnant before me and got pregnant "while not even trying"....Sweet Imma go do something with my salty self now 'cause i'm feeling pretty bitter right now

Seriously ? Congrats on the 0.3 % chance miracle baby, but honestly that was tacky. People on this board have been trying really hard for a really long time to get pregnant. You need to lurk a little and you would realize your drive by BFP is offensive and nobody gives a damn to see an update.

Nope. Not interested in updates from someone who has never contributed to this board or the members here at all. Buh bye now.
