Too early for Target?

Baby boo is 10 days old and I desperately need to run to Target. Think it's too early to take him to a public place?

Re: Too early for Target?

  • Nope, just keep LO covered and untouched. We went to target on day 4 :)

  • My LO went to target at less than a week old. Keep the car seat covered or wear him and no one will disturb him. :)

  • Us too! We went pretty early. I needed to get out.

  • Went day 3! Just kept baby out of everyone's reach!
  • Little Man was in the hospital until he was 12 days old, but the day we took him home we had him out in public. No one bothered him or got too close.

  • Went the other day. Put the car seat in the cart with a canopy on. No one bothered us

  • I know I'm the odd man out here but our pedi is very conservative and advises not to take the LO out until vaccinated at 8 weeks. I did this with my two older kids too and it worked out just fine. I didn't feel trapped in the house, I just ran errands at night or on weekends.

  • We took a whole family adventure to Target at just over two weeks. I needed stuff and wanted to get out of the house. I pushed the stroller with the car seat and DH pushed the cart with out two year old.

Mission accomplished and everyone made it out safe and I had fun.
  • I went with baby just over 2 weeks old. If you are going to do it, go with someone else. There was not enough space in the buggy for baby and everything I needed.
  • Good for all you mamas! I've been too nervous baby is going to have a crying fit while out and about to take him anywhere public yet (other than a stop at Dairy Queen or Subway during our walk when he's fast asleep in his stroller). I've also wanted to avoid the germs, so I would definitely be covering the car seat up while out so no one attempts to touch him!

We're taking him out to a restaurant this weekend for a family dinner and I'm just crossing my fingers he sleeps the whole time or isn't in his fussy mood!
  • I went at 8 days. I just kept him covered
  • I have been out with LO everyday! I have an 8 yr old and life doesn't stop. We have tutor, allergy shots, and baseball. Plus grocery shopping haircuts this week. Hubby works out of town :( My LO likes the car rides and I have a travel bottle warmer which is amazing in the diaper bag. We have a busy life and I hate being cooped up in the house. You will be fine!!! :)
  • Took LO at 4 days old and he went to chickfila at 5 days . I figured if he's had to go to the pediatrician twice already which is a much more germ infected place than those then out of the house will be fine.
  • I took my LO at 5 days old to Walmart. I kept him away from other people but I needed to pick up a few things and we were already out for his doctors appointment. My ped encourages you to take them out. He says it helps to build there immune system. He will be a month old on Thursday and has gone to a couple youth soccer games and a family party.
  • We've been out of the house almost every day since I've been cleared to drive. I wear baby a lot - keeps people from getting too close.
