I did a quick Google search out of curiosity, here is a website dedicated to that test: https://www.counsyl.com/

It is non-invasive genetic testing. But a few things, 1 - You don't NEED to do any tests like that, you can choose not to do any genetic testing if you wish. You always have a choice in what tests you do and while genetic testing is offered and quite common, it is still your choice. 2 - If you are confused about a test your doctor is asking you to take, always, always, always ask questions. You should be informed about your health and what you choose to do and not do during pregnancy. Your doctor should have went over what the test is for and asked for your consent, it's shocking that they would tell you that you needed to do a test and then not tell you anything about it.

My DH is doing it for a different disease that I tested positive as a carrier for (hypophosphatasia). The test was REALLY simple. He just had to swab the inside of his cheek with the kit they sent him, and then send it back. They provided all of the mailing materials and everything, he just had to drop it in a FedEx box. They've been very helpful and responsive to us.
