They did the second half of my anatomy scan today, to get the things little man didn't cooperate on last time. The tech seemed to indicate that everything looked good. She seemed pleased with what she could capture images.
Then I saw the doctor, it was actually a different member of the practice, not my regular doctor. As I was being walked to the examination room I overheard the receptionist mention that my doctor was leaving the practice in December. What!? I really like my doctor. I asked the nurse in the room and was informed that he is in fact leaving, potentially to open his own practice. I don't know if he'll be affiliated still with the hospital I want to deliver at. As soon as she told me that news, the nurse took my blood pressure and informed me it was too high. She asked if I ran to my appointment. (wasn't a big fan of her bedside manner, apparently she's new) DH is an EMT, so I will have him take my blood pressure a few times over the weekend to be overly cautious.
The different doctor that I saw today was very nice, I liked her. I want to see different doctors at the practice because you never know who will be on call when delivery time comes! I spoke to my sister about it, and she said not to worry too much if I like the practice because the labor and delivery nurses are with you so much more in a regular uncomplicated delivery anyway (that talked me off my ledge a bit!)
Finally, when I got to my office, the secretaries asked how my appointment was and I joked that little man is a porker, he is measuring a full week ahead of schedule. Instead of laughing, they immediately started with the "shut up, you're so tiny." "you're being ridiculous if you think you are big" It was awkward because I know I am still quite small. . . . I was just commenting about the baby growing big and strong!!
Re: doctor's appointment today. . . . just a vent
So you ended up switching doctors/finding someone new?
And I'm so sorry your doctor is leaving. I would be so bummed if I had to change, especially in December, right before the baby comes. maybe start looking at other Dr in your practice you like and change now so you don't have to get stuck with one you don't like and you can feel more comfortable.
