I have had a horrible time getting my original obgyn to take my condition seriously. After 6 hospital trips and being admitted for a week, vomiting blood, lost 20lbs (I'm not very big to begin with) ketones ext at 22weeks my Dr finally called my condition HG. Put me on home IVs and the zofran pump and have been doing very well for the last 9 days on it..... Well then my Dr office got shut down for some kind of fraud and won't release any medical records during the investigation (the last thing I need) well I went to a new Dr today at 24 weeks and he has no experience with the pump and I had to show him how it even works... He thinks that being on it 24/7 is unnecessary and thinks that I can just plug it in when I am nauseous... But after thinking about it I would have to repoke and waste medication that I have to pay a hefty penny for. My HHC will be contacting him tomorrow for approval of the previous orders. I'm so scared he's going to refuse it and I will have to start all over and relapse. I must have contacted 20 drs to try to transfer at this late in the game and was referred to this Dr over and over again. I feel like I keep hitting a dead end road. Any advice on what I should do?????
Re: ANY one suffering with HG on the pump? Need some advice
The thing about it is- the new OB has never seen one either, doesn't really know anything about it. The home health really does the managing here. Doctors sign orders all the time and half the time, they don't even pay attention to what he is signing.
I have had mine for nearly 12 weeks now. It has been an extremely rough ride- I am stable now, but I was in your position 12w ago.
The home health nurse is going to be your advocate in this case. They deal with HG on a daily basis and can lobby your doctor for appropriate treatment.
