January 2016 Moms

Body changes plus lack of searching skills

Since this is my first pregnancy, I am completely baffled at the body changes! I am not dealing with it very well.

I had gained some weight before getting pregnant so my "bump" showed sooner.  I was trying on maternity jeans last night (which is completely exhausting task!), and I noticed my legs in the mirror. they have gained weight/water weight, not sure which. I had some dimples on the back side of the thigh due to the weight gain prior but now the are on the front! I have muscle tone but now you can't even see it, it's just a blob of tissue and skin.

Please tell me this is normal and it will go away after the baby arrives.

I have tried searching weight gain thread, i found one by looking back, I did see people telling others to search, but when I search, i get other boards, NOT this board. I use this search (attached image) to look for topics in our board. Am I doing it wrong that I don't see topics in our board?

Re: Body changes plus lack of searching skills

  • To search the January board you have to be on the January page and then go to the bottom to the January search box.
    Good luck.

Everything you said sounds normal. And everyone is different so you can't really know what will go away and won't won't.

Depending if you are mobile or on a computer, you may have to select which board you want to search.

    Good luck.

I only use the computer for this site, as my attachment showed, i was selecting Jan. 20146 board and i was in the Jan. 2016 board.
I'll contact the site and see what the issue is.

  • I have the same issue when searching from our board. Sometimes I get some results from Jan 2016, but I usually get more results from other boards. It is frustrating. Post back if you find out what we might be doing wrong!
  • As far as the dimples are concerned, pregnancy makes you put on weight fast. If you gained some weight beforehand, like you said you did, sometimes your body just isn't used to incorporating fat. I noticed more "dimples" on my body during pregnancy just because your body is like "whoa, what do I do with all this?!" and isn't smoothly putting the weight on evenly. It will probably (no guarantee, but probably) ease up a bit after pregnancy because you will probably (no guarantee, but probably) start losing your baby weight, and stop putting more weight on, so your body will have time to incorporate it all. Just take care of yourself, and 99% of the weird pregnancy and after-birth changes will go away.
  • Your body changes a ton during pregnancy. Once it is all said and done your body will settle back into its norm. It may not look like it did before you got pregnant, but it will get back to pretty close. This is just a season!
  • Yes, my body is much "softer" now. I haven't really changed any of my eating habits or activity lev since getting pregnant. Yet, I've gained weight and don't have the toned look I used to have. Figured it's just my body doing what it needs to do.
