Episiotomy moms- am I the only one?

I gave birth 3 months ago to my 8 lb 6 oz son with a 14 and 1/4 inch head and my obgyn gave me an episiotomy. I've had my period twice and every time I use a tampon I am in so much pain. Same goes for sex. Will it ever get better or am I destined to be uncomfortable forever??

Re: Episiotomy moms- am I the only one?

  • I had one !!! Still hurts sometimes too and I am two months post partum !!! It actually is getting better and I am now able to have sex without screamig in pain :) . Hope you recover quickly
  • I had one but I can't comment on the recovery since I am only 2.5 weeks out. I was searching around to see when the discomfort will ease and when I can start being active again. Looks like i am in for a long road...I hope you are all recovering well! :)

  • I am not the norm, but mine hurts 8 yrs later after my first.  DH and I had to alter sex because it still causes me problems and two yrs ago I had to get it fixed because of how all the scar tissue healed and it was a nightmare.

I used one the first period after giving birth and removing it was just awful...I was scared to use one again and finally did again just last week, 22 months after giving birth lol and it was fine...sex I still find painful sometimes, but not every time
  • I had an episiotomy with my first baby, 16 years ago, and had residual pain until he was 5 years old. I don't know why it lasted that long, or what made it stop hurting suddenly, but I was happy when it did. It's a very traumatic thing for your body to endure, and it takes awhile to get better.
