Pregnant after a Loss

Approaching my loss milestone.

With my most recent loss I went for an US at 9 weeks only to discover the baby had stopped developing approximately a week and a half earlier. Today I am 7 weeks.
Last time around my new provider scheduled all my genetic testing apts for me only to tell me 15 mins later that my pregnancy wasn't viable. (We had previously seen and heard the heartbeat.) This time they want to schedule me out for all my future apts before even verifying my pregnancy with an US. This seems ludicrous to me.
I just find myself much more frustrated this time around. First US is in 2 weeks.

Re: Approaching my loss milestone.

  • I'm so sorry! Will they bring you in a couple of time to check your hcg and progesterone in the meantime? That might give you some peace of mind.
  • They won't. They don't think it's "necessary". I'm thinking I'm going to have to start getting stern with them!

  • Maybe they are booked far in advance, so waiting would make it harder to get appts?

I have the opposite issue at the moment.  My OB won't even schedule the first u/s appt until after I've missed AF (due tomorrow). I assume it's to avoid scheduling a bunch of people that end up having chemical pregnancies, but that is not a comforting thought to someone that already had a miscarriage.

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

  • Frustrating. They won't even see me until I'm 9 weeks. I did just hear back from them and they said they will wait to schedule me out for testing until I've been seen by my OB at 9 weeks.
  • Can you see a new OB? We switched to a fertility specialist this time. We didn't have fertility issues, but they also specialize in keeping you pregnant. Then at 12 weeks we "graduated" to a high risk specialist who, even when she doesn't deem things "necessary" she humors me. :) And I appreciate it!
  • That's nice of her @PlainJane8350 I'd like to at least be humored! I'm in Ca and have the monster of a machine Kaiser. It's not my OB, she's great, it's the system. They offer fertility "counseling" at 3 miscarriages. So my measly two is nothing to them! Ha! They're just so impersonal compared to my pregnancy/birth of my DD with a different provider.
  • Ya, my fertility specialist had to claim chemical pregnancies for me. I know it's common, but it's a shame that insurance companies tell us what's normal.
