Anyone else feel like they don't eat enough?

Hi guys.
I'm 27 weeks today! Yay. I eat and snack but I definitely don't feel like I eat the way I have known many pregnant women too. I eat healthy fruits and veggies, yogurt, proteins...and the occasionally unhealthy pizza and snacks but I do not eat a ton. I usually get full super fast now and only eat small portions at a time. Last appointment I have in total gained 9 lbs. I am not a super skinny girl but not over weight either.. Average I'd say. Just a thought on my kind skwmtimes..hoping baby is getting everything she needs!
Anyone else feeling like this?!

  • I feel full pretty quickly too, it makes me wonder how the sterotype is overeating? I havent been weighed recently but my maternity pants are my prepregnancy size and many of my regular stretchy shirts pants still fit. The maternity shirts are still huge. Still not sure if I look like I have a bump or a weird gut! Weight gain mostly goes to the baby only 5-10# of the 25# recommended is actually supposed to be mom's fat stores (the rest is fluid, baby, blood volume increase, placenta etc.). Im 25 weeks.

  • I hit 27 weeks almost a week ago and over the past few days realized I suddenly wasn't as hungry as before.  For a while in the second tri I was hungrier than normal and have gained about 18 lbs so far (on track for the 25-35 lb total gain my doc recommended).  But if this lower appetite keeps up I'm not sure if I should only eat when I'm hungry, which wouldn't be much, or try to guess how much I should be eating calorie wise and eat that.
  • I feel like I ate pretty normal during my first trimester. Once I hit around 24 weeks, my appetite increased, but not to where I was eating everything, just a little more than usual (one and a half slices of pizza rather than one). I'm 26 weeks now and have only gained 7 or 8 pounds total. Doctor isn't worried, so I'm not going to be either. I just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full.

I'm definitely struggling with this. I gained 70 lbs during my previous pregnancy so this has been that much more of a shock. It's been a while since I was weighed but the last two appointments there was no change and I was only up two pounds from prepregnancy weight.

I had nasty MS this time and never felt like I got my appetite back after. Food just doesn't sound good. I take a couple bites and feel sick so I'll stop. I'm find some things I do better with (mostly really bland foods like oatmeal or fresh fruits and steamed veggies with rice). I watch my calories and know I'm not getting enough now that I hit third trimester. Trying to get in a few extra calories with drinking chocolate milk and that helps a little.

*The weird thing is that my clothes from the end of my previous pregnancy when I was 40 lbs heavier are actually too small for my belly. Bun must be growing in there, right? I have a repeat anatomy scan in a week and I'm very anxious to see how Bun is growing and that health is good.
  • I'm having a super hard time with getting enough calories in. I'm rarely hungry, my job makes eating regular meals incredibly difficult, and I still have nausea issues. I'm still down 15 lbs from prepregnancy weight and having size issues with the baby so I seriously need to get it under control too. I've been trying to make my calories worthwhile with good fats (avocados, nuts, peanut butter, etc) but it's rough

  • According to my doctor pregnant woman are really only supposed to increase their caloric intake by 100-300 calories per day. Which is not a lot at all. I'm just personally a savage so I'll go over 1000-3000 calories in one day :D

  • I wish I could sit and eat an adult plate, heck, even a child's plate worth of food! I don't have the room though, so I make due with power packed foods and nibbling at everything often. Haven't gained much weight either but long as the doctor is happy and the baby is healthy that's all that matters. Would be nice though to go out to eat and like...eat.. Not just nibble haha
  • I am almost 26 weeks and my insane appetite is starting to taper off a bit and there is less room for when I'm starving. I still eat all the time, just in smaller portions and more often now. Some days I really struggle to get in the nutrition and calories baby and I need, but I keep smoothie supplies on hand and drink those on days I don't meet caloric intake.
  • I feel the same way. Although there are some days I'm constantly eating! I had an appointment yesterday and I'm 2 ounces away from my pre pregnancy weight. I must be eating enough!
  • This is my 3rd pregnancy and i felt like this with all 3. Sometimes my husband has to remind me to eat cause im just not all that hungry. And i get full really quick. Im almost 26 wks and only up 2 pounds but baby is measuring great.
  • This is cute to read. Um no, I'm not struggling to eat. I'm struggling not to eat. I want to put all the food in my face all the time.
  • @court11152325 "this is cute to read" is condescending and unnecessary on a post specific to people with decreased appetite! As a pregnancy dietitian I have counseled patients for inadequate weight gain and even more for excessive weight gain, generally it is MUCH more complicated to increase the rate of weight gain than to slow it down.

In no way was it meant to be condescending.

ETA: it was meant to be light hearted. However I understand that tone and inflection can be misinterpreted online and perhaps it was not tactful to phrase it like that.
