Any soon to be Mom's in the 35+ range

Re: Any soon to be Mom's in the 35+ range

  • I'm 36 a day pregnant with my first. I'm currently16 weeks. I haven't had any morning sickness, but had a lot of fatigue in 1st trimester. I've also been dealing with a cold on and off. The coughing was terrible. I had the panorama screening and everything looked just fine. Level II ultrasound in a couple weeks since I'm AMA.
  • A lot of "mature" moms in here! I'll be 35 next week, so this is my first time at the AMA table. My oldest is 15 and my youngest is 1. So I've played this game in my early 20s and now in my mid-30s. The only difference I've noticed is how much more tired and achy I am with this and my last pregnancy. If course, that could also be my ute screaming, "Nooooooooo! No more occupants!" Lol. Trying to enjoy it though, as this will be our last. :)

  • 35 and will be 35 when i deliver my first baby in March. My OB seems like she is trying to find something wrong with me because I am "so old" and of advanced maternal age (which I've heard about 7000 times from her). She keeps ordering me to go to this specialist to get poked and prodded. I don't mind because I get to see my baby more often...but seriously...this is not some miracle baby growing in my ancient uterus....I'm just 35...im anxious enough as it is without the OB freaking me out all the time!

i think i am just lucky with my OB - he and his wife have 5 kids, and only one of them was born before she was 35; she was "AMA" for 4 of them and she just had the most recent one at 43, after an ectopic pregnancy before that

  • I'm 36 (will be 37 at birth).  This is my first baby (assuming all goes well).  Was pregnant last year, but m/c.  The biggest shock for me was the box that my dr checked that said "geriatric pregnancy".  Really, people, really?
  • I feel your pain @katsunderthestars! Three of my blood tests were listed as "geriatric"; makes one expect a pile of dust in there as opposed to a baby! Never thought I'd find "Advanced Maternal Age" the kinder, gentler term lol.
  • I'm 36 and this is my second pregnancy but will be our first child.
It's really nice to see so many other "advance aged" moms here.
  • I'm 39 and 15wks with number 4. This pregnancy has been heaps easier besides the first trimester tiredness. I have a 12 yr gap and I honestly feel really ready to do this all over again.
  • I am 37 and I will be 38 when baby arrives. She will be my third and I'm so excited. My oldest is ten my youngest is 15 months so I will be busy. It is nice to hear I am not the only woman out there "advanced maternal aged" and sick of the Doctors continuously bringing it up. Yes I am aware I am older but healthy and capable of making a beautiful healthy baby just as well as if I was in my 20's. Good luck ladies and congratulations on all your beautiful babies soon to be arriving!
  • I'm also 37, I will be 38 on October 30. This is also my 4th child. I have 3 daughters 14, 4, & 3. I have had 4 miscarriages.
I always love the phrase "because of your age". Even my mom said it to me. Thankfully, I don't see a high risk doctor. One obgyn payment is enough for me.
  • I had my first at 38 and I'll be 40 when this baby is born. My first pregnancy was easy- no problems, quick unmedicated labor/delivery, healthy baby. And so far, this pregnancy has been easy too. I have couple of friends my age that are also pregnant. It isn't that unusual these days. Best of luck! <3

  • I'm 36 and expecting Baby #9 and my oldest is 10! I'll be 37 when the baby is born.
  • Hi. 37 and pregnant with my 3rd girl! I'll be a month and a couple weeks shy of my 38th birthday after I have her. I do not like the "Advanced Maternal Age" attached to everything this pregnancy, but other than an extra blood test, this prenatal care is pretty much the same. Good luck to everyone.
  • 35 and pregnant with my first.  Honestly, I don't feel like an anomaly.  Many of my HS friends, coworkers, etc, are the same age and have had children only within the last couple years, or still haven't.  Nobody has said much about my "advanced age."  I'm way better off now than 10 years ago.
  • I'm 36 and pregnant with our first! I wish we would've had kids sooner, but life had other plans. A lot of the people I know are having kids in their late 30s and early 40s, so the only time I feel old, it's when I go to the Dr and am coded as AMA. Lol
  • I can see that where you live definitely indicates whether you feel "old." I'm in an urban area the majority of people I know had their first around 31. I know many people my age (36) who are just getting started like me. I like having the extra tests and getting more face time with the docs. It's like I get to check up on my mini me. When I feel terrible, I just chant healthy baby to myself.
  • I'm 34 and don't really respond to post because I feel some people are very young and have nothing better to do. My daughter is 2 and all the women bashed each other, didn't work, and complained too much for me. I've notice this here in a few posts also. As far as my pregnancy I had a few extra tests at first and see a high risk Doctor as well as my normal Obgyn.
