Daily Symptoms - Friday August 28

Post all symptoms, questions, and concerns here to avoid flooding the board.

How are we feeling today, mamas?

18w today, so excited to leave month 4 in the dust and we only 2 weeks away from halfway! Being at the end of the month can be great sometimes, knowing what to expect from people 4 weeks ahead of me, but it also is like being that kid with a summer birthday and it's junior year of college and all of your friends already turned 21, haha.

Still not feeling movement, but I have a feeling I'm one of those people who won't notice it until it's real jabs in about a month, since I have so many gassy rumblings happening on a daily basis anyway. I'm trying to be chill about it, since she's always moving tons on the ultrasounds, and I am always able to find her with my doppler, but even though I'm not concerned that I don't feel her, I would still LIKE to feel her!

Otherwise, just hungry, hungry, hungry as usual. Still getting dizzy if my showers last too long, I guess I just need to learn to shower quicker somehow. Boo, no fun. Sometimes feel a lot of pressure when I'm walking, yesterday I joked to my mom that it felt like my uterus was going to fall out as I walked because there was so much pressure, but I know it's just growing pains and that she likes to also chill on my bladder which creates a lot of extra pressure. Nothing painful, just uncomfortable. Oh well, guess I need to get used to being uncomfortable!

Re: Daily Symptoms - Friday August 28

  • Starting to have trouble sleeping. I've always been a stomach sleeper and now that I'm sleeping more on my side, I keep waking up with sore shoulders. (It doesn't help that my husband bought a mattress that feels like sleeping on a concrete floor.) Thinking about getting a maternity pillow or something to help get more comfortable. My dreaded headaches have been back the past two days too. Pretty sure I'm feeling baby though, so it's worth all the pain and sleeplessness! :-)
  • I have a cold...and there's nothing I can do about it. I work with children and I am afraid this is in the cards for me often towards the end of my pregnancy.

  • @MssyMmmy I start teaching next Wednesday and I am totally dreading the germs kids bring into school. I usually get a bad cold every winter, and the idea of a cold while pregnant is SO unappealing, sigh.

  • Starting to feel much better! 22weeks today.  I had another ultra sound this morning at the specialist and found out that I will no longer need to go see them! Super stoked on that - They were monitoring my cervix from a LEEP procedure back in 2011, but in the Doctors words 'My cervix is golden!' :)

The only reason I would need to go back now is if I were to go into pre-term labor.
  • @Malic do you still sometimes sleep on your stomach? I'm 19w and I still have to sleep on my belly a lot, even though it's getting a little more uncomfortable by the day. I know it's silly but it always freaks me out a little because I feel like I'm crushing the baby! Dr assured me I'm not and its ok to do as long as it's still comfortable.
  • I'm in the hospital with kidney stones and a kidney infection. Came out of no where. In so much pain - hoping this stone passes soon and that they let me go home soon!
  • Was feeling better but the last few days have been rough :( they put me back on progesterone suppositories due to preterm labor with my son and my cervix length changed quite a bit between my 16 week appt and the 20 week ultrasound. Hopefully it works because I'm feeling the side effects of it (cramping and a little extra dizziness).
Super emotional the last few days too. This baby is making me a mess lol nothing like my first pregnancy!
  • 21 weeks and ANOTHER uti. Today my doctor put me on meds to take for the rest of my pregnancy. As if I didn't feel gross enough... On the bright side, I feel my little girl kicking and moving like crazy. DH and I can't agree on a name though! We have like 4 in the running...
  • @ah1013 Oh no! Ouch! Hope you have a speedy recovery, that is NOT fun!

Yes! I start of on my side but almost always wake up on my stomach. I agree though, it's getting more uncomfortable day by day...more so because of my boobs than stomach though! Haha

Sorry to squash you, little baby! Mama needs her sleep! ;)
  • 18w5d today. We have our next sonogram on Monday and at that appointment, we can find out the sex of the baby too. DH and I are very excited to hear and see our baby again on the screen.  :x My appetite is increasing and so are the aches and pains of my hips and legs. My sleeping regimen has been a roller coaster lately.  Some nights I sleep all the way through, others I wake up to pee and it takes me 20-40 minutes to fall back asleep.  I returned back to work this week for workshops, (teacher here) and I was EXHAUSTED by the time we let out at 4 p.m.  It was nice to get myself back into a routine of waking up early at 5:30 and putting in a whole days worth of work. Looking forward to being at the halfway mark soon and actually seeing my students reactions when they see that I am having a baby.  :D

@teachmegs817 Are you showing obviously? Do you plan on telling your students immediately at the beginning of the year? I'm still at that "Is she pregnant or fat" stage and am curious what other teachers have planned :)

  • @Malic @sgafbag I am a stomach sleeper and at 20w4d it's still pretty comfortable for me. The worst part is my boobs getting squashed and hurt and if baby is awake he will absolutely flip out and start punching/kicking the bed. The only way I sleep completely comfortable is on my back and my husband always wakes me up and tells me
I'm not supposed to sleep like that!

Other than terrible sleep, my sickness is getting a little better I think. No throwing up for about a week and I forgot to take my Diclegis last night and still not sick yet today!
Just feeling super fat and trying my hardest to get DH to feel kicks but baby just isn't having it. He will be dancing away and as soon as DH puts his hand there instantly still. I know it will come soon enough but I feel like if he feels it, he will be more excited to buy stuff since he is procrastinating at the moment lol.
  • @caraboonie My avatar pic is from 15 weeks and I was showing then for sure. Not so much when I sat down, it kind of still smooshed together like a little fat belly, rather than a baby belly.  Now that I am 18 weeks, there's no guessing that I have a bump, even when I sit down it's now a firmer, rounder belly.  All of my co-workers who hadn't seen me all summer announced it as soon as I came into school for the workshops this week. I'll be 20 weeks when school starts, so I know it'll be noticeable.  What will decide it is whether or not the kids call it out right away or they hesitate because they may think I just gained weight.  I will probably announce it to the kids on day 1, just to get it out of the way.  I only have 8 students, I am in a Special Ed. Classroom for behaviorally challenging students.  I will most likely have 3-4 of mine being dropped off on Day 1 by their parent, because of bussing being so chaotic, and I know they adults won't hesitate to put it out there, lol.

  • @teachmegs817 haha, if it's obvious you're pregnant then I bet the parents will say something...and who knows with kids, they often say what's on their mind even if they shouldn't! I'm with 4th graders this semester, which is an age where they may say something, or may not. I'll only be like 18.5 weeks when we start next week, and apparently so far am only obviously pregnant to people who already knew me, so unless I really pop over the weekend, I guess I'll have to just outright say something to avoid any awkward questions later.

  • Left side cramping for the last couple hours, haven't had that happen yet where it's lasted this long. Anyone have just left side cramping for a few hours and it go away? It's almost like a cramping/stretching but that seems like an extended period of time?
  • Holy heartburn this afternoon! The only thing I've had to eat in the last few hours was a homemade brownie and water! Since when does chocolate cause heartburn?? First time I've had heartburn during this pregnancy though
  • Aren't we supposed to be glowing or something... All I see is acne
  • @kaym6 AMEN! Worst skin of my life right now, hoping it gets better, but it really only started this month.

  • @kwentela lucky, I've had it every single day no matter what I eat. I keep my Pepcid on my nighttable and just take one with my nightly Diclegis and prenatal now. I also keep some in my purse in case it's bad during the day.

  • I THINK I finally felt that "quickening" everybody else seems to have felt weeks ago tonight after dinner while lying back in my recliner...we'll see if it happens again, but I sure hope it was her and not some weird crazy gas bubbles!

I'm an AP in a middle school and heard the girls whipspering "is she pregnant? " as i walked by yesterday. It is pretty obvious that i am but i did clarify for them and now i figure all the other kids will know!
