My 2 month old after every feeding is spitting and vomiting his milk up. He is also very fussy after feedings as well. I am breastfeeding. Any suggestions on how to help him ?
I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion of reflux but you should speak with your Pedi. My first child, my son, would spit up 3-4oz full of formula after each feeding but he was a happy spitter. So many people told me to put him on medication but I didn't believe he needed it. Spitting up is normal. Spitting up a LOT is normal. If your LO isn't gaining weight, or seem in legitimate pain then something else could be going on. It also could be something in your diet if you're BF'ing.
Our LO was spitting up a lot, and we tried a ton of different stuff, and here's what worked for us.
Propped up his mattress a bit
Feeding him IMMEDIATELY as soon as he shows hunger signs, so there's no crying or getting upset, which seemed to make the spitting up worse
Not burping him until he was done eating (we were doing it multiple times throughout his feedings, and all of the moving around was making it worse)
Keeping him upright against our shoulders when burping for 10-15 minutes
Also, our doc kept telling me that he probably wasn't spitting up as much as I thought, but it seemed like SO much. I finally filled up one of his bottles with an ounce and poured it out on a burp rag, and I realized he was spitting up far less than that, and I felt much better about it.
Re: 2 month old vomits/spits up
Sounds like he has reflux or GERD. Your doctor can write you a prescription for baby version of Zantac.
Also, keeping your LO on an incline can help.
