I love my daughter with all my heart but I seriously sometimes miss the days before she was here. I miss the carefree summers of do what I want/watch what I want (we've watched Elsa-Frozen and Mike-Monsters University almost every day this summer I think). In the end of things of course I wouldn't change it for anything else in the world and I am super excited about having two little girls running around but some days I just want to sleep in and read all day and watch stupid judge shows without constantly hearing "mama! Mama!! Mamaaaaaa!!!"
Maybe this is more along the lines of a FFFC. Idk.
My UO- I don't think everyone should vote. I'll even go so far as to say I don't think everyone should have the right to vote. (I can already feel the flames...) I say this based on I know people who go to the polls and literally, I am not making this up "vote for someone who doesn't sound Mexican." o_0 !!!! This is someone who shouldn't vote! She doesn't know the issues, she doesn't know the people, she just votes for someone who "doesn't sound Mexican." I also know people who say they vote on every single issue cause it's "their duty as an American," even if they don't know what the issue is about and they vote the way "the cute little kids out side with the pamphlets" said to vote. Again, not making that up, I was really told this, for realz, in real life. I think people should have to pass a test, or serve in the armed forces or as a civil servant or something to prove they are actually interested in putting some kind of effort into researching what they are voting on and aren't just checking off boxes at random.

This! I feel this super hard currently in regards to those who are seriously backing Donald Trump.
My UO: please stop telling me what an "easy" pregnancy I'm having. I know I've continued to exercise, I'm not waddling, and I'm all belly, but just because I'm not complaining to everyone I see doesn't mean I'm feeling amazing. I just don't feel the need to tell everyone that my groin is constantly sore or I have terrible heartburn or I feel like I'm smuggling a watermelon everywhere I go. And no I didn't tell the world that most of my first trimester I puked 4 or more times per day. Sometimes every 10 minutes for several hours. I don't want to complain to the world, but just because I'm not complaining doesn't mean it's "easy" and I'm "lucky" whether it's supposed to be a compliment or not.

This is also along the lines of people who actually think Planned Parenthood is selling baby parts. Ugh.
@MandahGirly yup! Speaking of PP, I'm currently really pissed off at my state for pulling state-funding from it. Like, nice. Three seedy, greasy DUDE BROS get the final say when it comes to women's rights and health. Bravo, New Hampshire! BRAVO.

DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!! I've almost unfriended a few folk on Facebook cause I just can't handle it!!!! For the record, I'm pro choice. That does NOT mean I'm "pro abortion." It means I don't know what is going on in another woman's life to tell her what she can or can't do with her body. I promote sex ed, birth control and adoption as the first lines of defense and would prefer abortions not happen. BUT that shit needs to stay legal and safe because it does happen, whether I like it or not. Anyhoo, if one more uber religious person tells me they will pray for my soul because I'm pro choice and hopefully if they pray hard enough God will change my heart and I won't go to hell- I'm going to lose my shit! I love babies! I personally can't think of a circumstance where I would ever get an abortion. But you know what? It isn't always about me and I have no right to tell another woman how to live her life or decide for her what she can or can't do. Day-um I get fiery over this topic!
Preach ladies! Agree agree agree. The Donald? Really America?! Smh!!!
It is seriously so fucking unreal. I feel like we have to be in the Twilight Zone. We totally are, right? Please tell me. I need to know before I go crazy.
@MariahOBrien@J1D I KNOW. I have a few people I am friends with on Facebook that incessantly post about PP and every time they do I want to post something snarky and actually educated. But I don't want to open that can of worms. That's why i love the ignore button.
Which brings me to something else I hate. I hate when people post attention grabby shit on Facebook like "she put a stick up her butt and you won't BELIEVE what happened next!" It pisses me off so much that I just want to slap them all! I ALSO hate when people post stuff of Facebook that is clearly offensive and then try to justify it by saying "this is so offensive why would someone do this blah blah blah" dude, if it's THAT terrible DONT POST IT. like what's the point!? You are just spreading the vile further. If it's that offensive then report it and let it be. It's counter productive to then post it. I can't even.
UO: I haven't become part of the "Secret FB Group" for O15 because I don't recognize most of the people who are on it. I think the recent inappropriate posts and drama have solidified that decision, which bums me out because there are so many people here who I really respect and with whom I enjoy interacting!

I've actually been asked if being pregnant means I finally realize how important all life is. As if me having a baby means I am finally ready to strip away basic women's rights! And I completely agree with you - I can't think of a situation where I'd want to get an abortion, but that is me. And that is my choice. And what you do for your body is your choice. And I actually get madder at women who try to strip away these rights then I do at men, because women should understand this, yet so many don't.
As for Donald Trump, I REALLY want to buy a "TRUMP 2016" onesie for baby girl, but that would mean I'd have to donate to his campaign to do so, and then it wouldn't be funny anymore. But really, I can't be the only one who thinks he is trolling America. There is no way he could be serious.
@LiveNLove44 that's how I feel about the secret group as well. I get uncomfortable posting here sometimes cause I'm scared it'll offend someone and I'll get yelled at. I can't imagine how I'd feel if people who I'm not comfortable with had access to my personal information! I like talking to you all here. Here is good. Connecting with so many people I don't know on Facebook scares me. It could probably be added to my list of phobias on the gtky phobias thread.
@smlowe9311, I can relate! As we've discussed before, our kids are acoyt the same age. At our house, it's "Nemo" or "Monster" (monster's inc), or "Dino's Train" (Dinosaur Train). I've also seen the Pixar short "Mater and the Ghostlight" at least 300 times as well as "Elmo's Potty Time." No binge-watching my own shows anymore. Sometimes I miss the days of laying out by the pool flipping through a gossip rag and sleeping till 11. But I LOVE my son any wouldn't trade him for the world.
@J1D, I agree with you. I think people probably ought to educate themselves about the issues and get out there and vote accordingly, but the ignorance of many people is startling. Honestly, I only vote in presidential elections, because I don't feel like I'm qualified to vote the rest of the time since I don't know all the issues well enough . . . And I've not even voted in every election, though not always by choice.
Anyone backing Donald Trump has me shaking my head in disbelief. Especially one friend of mine who is Mexican. Um, you're part of the exact group that Trump expressed disdain for and you want to vote for him? WTF?
This is potentially a UO: I don't trust either side of the story regarding the whole Planned Parenthood and selling fetal remains thing. It's not like it's any secret that PP is a major provider of abortions, and who's to say a few corrupt doctors decided to try to make a profit selling the fetal remains? But I also think the pro-life side has blown this story way out of proportion to make it look like PP exists primarily for the purpose of performing abortions to harvest fetal body parts.
And my official UO:
I didn't think the glucose test was that bad. The Glucola tasted like watery orange Gatorade to me. It didn't make me sick (probably a telling sign that there's way too much sugar in my diet). I didn't even mind waiting an hour at the doctor, between making a couple phone calls, working on my cross stitching and going on TB, the time passed quickly. Even getting my blood drawn wasn't too bad. Don't throw things at me.
But then I decided my post GD test snack would be a junky carb-fest which consisted of sweet and salty popcorn and Starburst. That made me feel yucky.
I found out this week that I am 90% going to have a C-section the first week of October due to complete previa. I really don't mind. C-section isn't my first choice but I also don't think it's the worst thing to ever happen like so many other women do. I can actually see some positives in this.
I agree with all of this. I've given up on trying to explain my reasons for being pro-choice to most family members. They can't fathom after my miscarriages how I could possibly be okay with killing innocent little babies. *eye roll*
@J1D During the first Obama election I had to explain to someone I worked with that you couldn't vote for both Obama and Sarah Palin. She kept saying "but I want a woman and a black man in the White House" If you don't understand how voting works and know anything about the issues you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

My biggest gripe with this mentality is that the same people who are against "killing innocent babies" are usually the same ones who lose their shit if they are asked to help pay for them in anyway. Their lives are only worthy in utero - too bad if their mommas are poor and hungry once they are born.

Sounds like mine is truly the UO - I strongly support everyone's right to vote! I wish every U.S. citizen really appreciated and respected the right to vote and informed themselves of the process and the issues and where the candidates stand, but the right to vote is something that should never ever be tampered with. Who decides who gets to vote? Based on what criteria? Even if it means we have a bunch of total dumbasses at the polls, those dumbasses are Americans, too. I get weirdly emotional during elections, seeing the lines of my neighbors with their diverse backgrounds and viewpoints waiting to cast their ballot makes me so grateful to be in a country where its citizens have a voice. It's a beautiful thing lol! I truly don't get the Donald Trump thing, though. I'm not worried about it, it makes for great entertainment which is probably his whole motive anyway.

THIS!! I hate going on Facebook and the SAME people repost abused animals, starved animals, a woman throwing puppies into a river WTF!!?? and then "justify" by "why would anyone do this" or for "awareness." How about you STOP spreading it. Ugh, I hate logging in and the first thing I see is a half dead, beaten dog with some bull about "how can anyone do this. But this dog lived" Ok- Lets not show the healthy dog, lets show the dog dying for more clicks. It's infuriating and I get very snippy on people who post this on FB.

Edit because quote box fail . . .
Yeah sorry I'm using your tax dollars to pay for the food I feed the kids I didn't use your tax dollars to abort . . .
My UO: I think all of social media is stupid and a waste of time. I am 25 years old and don't have a Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram account. I think social media is a large part of why our world is so screwed up.

I totally agree! I have never voted (I am 27) because I know that I have not done the research to have an educated vote. I know I should be more proactive about this but politics are not my thing! I just wish there were more people like me who would just avoid the polls if they don't know who they are voting for!
I'm leaning very strongly towards having a RCS instead of trying for a VBAC. There are a variety of factors going into this, but a major one is that my previous c-section was successful and my recovery went really well. A c-section is major surgery but it's not the worst possible thing that one can endure.
I think it's great that you feel at peace about needing a c-section, because it'll be much less stressful going in knowing that's the plan than having to undergo an emergency c-section.
This! I feel this super hard currently in regards to those who are seriously backing Donald Trump.

I am in love with the direction in which this thread has gone. We have so many smart and informed women on our board! This^^ is pretty how I feel about abortion, but I never see other people voicing this middle ground position. I get SO angry when women on here voice that their baby has a debilitating birth defect or disorder and she needs to weight her options and people start telling her they'll pray for her and to please think of her baby and not get an abortion. That is already such an awful decision, but one I personally, would actually weigh the options of. I just hope I never ever have to.
I've stopped even sharing articles with my opinions on Facebook. Now, the only time I'll really mention politics much is to point out blatant untruths and beg people to read reputable news sources. Which I'm sure makes me a giant pretentious asshole, but I don't really care at this point. The other day, one of our local acquaintances shared an individual's PSA saying that two Pakistani men had been seen walking around a mall, but that unfortunately the police couldn't detain them as they weren't technically breaking any laws and after searching them found nothing on them, so everyone please be careful because we all know what they're trying to do. I nearly flipped my shit and called her out, and then wanted to bang my head against a wall. I don't even know how to combat the ignorance in this country. I certainly don't think only voting if you're a civil servant is the way to do it, as they're some of the most ridiculously ignorant of all those I hear. I'm livid that the level of stupid has shaped our voting options for next year into what they are.
(I'm not sure which of those opinions I should call out as the unpopular one, so have your pick!)
@jefinley1, did I read this correctly? An acquaintance of yours posted a PSA about "two Pakistani men walking around a mall"?
Ummmmm . . . WTF?
They were just . . . Walking around the mall? Like maybe there was a sale at Jos A Bank they wanted to check out or they were craving Auntie Anne's pretzels so they decided to stroll the mall, but this is somehow not ok because they're Pakistani?

I agree with you 100%. I don't like to share a lot on FB for that reason. Unless it's for a good cause. But I agree that there are times that the sharing and click bait is terrible. Especially on this abortion nonsense or on false information about vaccines. I am pro-choice but my family would never understand that so I don't tell them. I would never have an abortion, but I could never expect a woman to give up 40 weeks of her life for a child that she doesn't want to carry. It's her choice.
The worst I've seen (and this really ticked me off) was when there were so many click bait titles on the Michael Brown shooting (this weekend is the anniversary by the way). I live in St. Louis. The city was very much on edge between August and November. We desperately wanted a verdict because rioters and looters were tearing up the city and people were afraid to go out. When articles started floating around FB saying verdict reached or Darren Wilson arrested people just saw the titles and spread the word without actually reading the article. I ended up ignoring all of it. I plan on avoiding FB for that reason this weekend. Not to mention if the protesters become violent again, I'd rather see it on the news. I'm glad to see that issues are finally being addressed in that community, but it was a really terrible time for St. Louis and the media who are responsible for our click bait articles handled it so terribly that I think in some parts they actually made it worse. Sorry that's my UO for the week.
@vamomtobe I'm with you on wanting everyone to be able to vote. I too get oddly emotional about the whole process which is why I get so angry with how the lack of inquiry and the education of oneself has brought our country to the point it is at. I am a hardcore Jeffersonian (Hamilton and the republic pushers would be more the pro-Federalist, certain qualifications to vote side as far as the ideas on which our country was formed), which I'm pretty sure means I'm a ridiculously naive optimist at heart, as like Jefferson, I believe that everyone, if given the opportunity to learn, can add value to our country. It's the different backgrounds and experiences that make this country so great.
I actually understand not always voting given the options recently. I've had very mixed feelings over the last couple of elections. But @MrsFaust1432 please don't feel like "politics" is some exclusive club of excessive info gathering and understanding every tiny inner-working of our country's system. I think the most important thing knowing that first, it isn't a hobby so much as a lifestyle, just like etiquettes . Something that affects all of us deeply. And while it's a flawed system, everyday voices are as valuable as the crazy lobbyists buying congressmen. In fact it's more and more of those voices that combat political corruption. Knowing the things that shape our nation has an incredible effect on everything from what kind of education our children will receive (lookin' at you Texas and the conservatives who just reshaped AP test standards!), to how we access healthcare. Please don't be daunted or discouraged from learning!
My UO: I've thought of my baby's body as hers and not mine from the moment I found out I was pregnant.
Also, I think nachos are nasty, don't like football, and think that, among the founders, John Adams had the best grasp of human nature (@jefinley1 - we need a nerd version of this thread, stat. )
@intheversa I have the same feeling about FB this weekend- I'm in St. Louis, too. What really irks me is how the situation looked on other news stations. I had family in Nevada and Cali calling me, asking if the city was burning down. It's terribly sensationalized sometimes (click bait doesn't help there!) and makes a bad situation even worse. My boss made the joke that the CNN coverage for Baltimore looked exactly like the coverage from Ferguson, just a different map.
My UO: I hate the disgusting videos people post on FB. I don't really care to see vomit or blood on my newsfeed. Someone posted a home video of a doe giving birth. While birth is wonderful, it's still GROSS. I've seen plenty of farm animals being born- grew up on a cattle farm- and guess what? Very messy. Some of us are squeamish and the auto-play video feature doesn't let me scroll past it fast enough!
Not to AW (much) but I just learned of an opinion that's very unpopular with me . . . I failed my glucose test!
I had 153 after 11.5 hours of fasting and the cut-off was 130. My doctor's first suggested I come in for the 3-hour test, but I asked if I could just skip it and start modifying my diet and testing my blood sugar. They said yeah that's Ok, so I'm going in Monday for some diabetic teaching and to get my glucometer.
This is unpopular for me because this weekend is my FIL's 60th birthday and I have to watch my carbs at my IL's house!!!! They cook such good food but it's all high carbs! And there's pumpkin ice cream in the freezer DH just bought and I can't eat it. Not yo mention that meat is way more expensive than carb-heavy foods like pasta.
Ok. End rant.
Carry on, I'm enjoying the insightful political discussion. :-)

I'm not sure if this counts as an UO but...
I found out this week that I am 90% going to have a C-section the first week of October due to complete previa. I really don't mind. C-section isn't my first choice but I also don't think it's the worst thing to ever happen like so many other women do. I can actually see some positives in this.
My biggest gripe with this mentality is that the same people who are against "killing innocent babies" are usually the same ones who lose their shit if they are asked to help pay for them in anyway. Their lives are only worthy in utero - too bad if their mommas are poor and hungry once they are born.

Edit because quote box fail . . .
Yeah sorry I'm using your tax dollars to pay for the food I feed the kids I didn't use your tax dollars to abort . . .
Ummmmm . . . WTF?
They were just . . . Walking around the mall? Like maybe there was a sale at Jos A Bank they wanted to check out or they were craving Auntie Anne's pretzels so they decided to stroll the mall, but this is somehow not ok because they're Pakistani?
There are not words
Also, I think nachos are nasty, don't like football, and think that, among the founders, John Adams had the best grasp of human nature (@jefinley1 - we need a nerd version of this thread, stat.
