I guess I didn't notice when went in that it was in toilet soooo gross
  • @AmyB421 I'm right there with you, lady! Took me a hot minute to figure it out too. The good news is, it can be done!

WTF lady at the pool who questioned my two year old wearing a life jacket in the kiddie pool, saying "the water's not THAT deep." First of all, I KNOW the water isn't "that deep" seeing as it comes up to DS's hips at the deepest part, but after seeing my kid go under not once, but twice the first time we visited the pool this summer, which freaked him out even though he was otherwise OK, I'm not taking any chances. With his life vest on, DS will stay above water if he loses his balance. And it gives him the confidence to explore the whole pool and enables us to venture over to the "big pool" once in a while to practice floating. The kid hasn't had swimming lessons yet. He doesn't know how to breathe out underwater or how to float yet. So forgive me if I'm being overprotective here, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to my child that could've been prevented with a life jacket.
@mamaowl15, I worked as a lifeguard and then swimming instructor for over seven years, and I absolutely hate it when people judge others for being extra cautious around and in water. That is one of the only places where IDGAF what anyone says or what kind of looks they give me; when it comes to DD's safety, I'll stay within arms reach at all times. No judgmental stares will make me do otherwise! We don't do the floatation devices, but there is definitely a time and place for them. The bottom line is that our LOs become comfortable in the water. I'm glad you take him swimming!!!

My son loves swimming. I hope to keep it that way. I used to swim competitively, and I think maybe he will want to do that some day too. First step, splashing in the kiddie pool.

Ugh that's how hot it's been in Colorado. It is so sunny and not here, it drives me nuts sometimes! It was 110 here today. And my office AC was on the fritz. Ugh.
  • WTF morning sickness, it's back and it's worse. It's that or DH brought back some kind of flu bug from Gen Con (board game convention). DH and I were supposed to work on house projects tonight, but I ate dinner and I was sick to my stomach after.  I actually walked by the litter box and almost threw up from the smell.
  • WTF nerve spasm leaving me stranded by the beans at HEB. I spent 30 mins pretending to be interested in bags of beans simply because I could not move. No exaggerating....I couldn't even shift the weight in my legs without searing pain shooting up and down the left side of my leg, butt and lower back. It's funny to me now but at the time I wanted to cry.

@tate62610 I'm sorry that sounds like sciatica. My chiropractor told me that I should start wearing a belly band to help relieve the pressure off my spine. What are you using to help the pain?

Edited: the belly band is really uncomfortable :(
  • @tate62610, this belly band is so uncomfortable though! I'm carrying low and I'm usually a size 18 but this thing not fitting me like it should. I might look for a different kind. Sadly my weight has been in my hips this whole pregnancy thanks to LO's favorite sitting position.

But on the sciatica thing, I just remembered this. So I have had sciatic nerve problems for years and the chiropractor helps but to temporarily relieve the pain, try putting a pillow under the leg that's giving you pain when you're sitting down. I know it sounds crazy but by raising that leg and taking pressure off that sciatic nerve it will actually help the pain some. I used to work in a call center. I took calls for 8-10 hours a day and some days I just wanted to scream because I was in so much pain. I finally started sitting with my hoody under my leg just to raise it up some. A pillow works better. Belly band will probably help a lot too. Hope that helps.
  • @intheversa thank you so much! I've had sciatic nerve problems for at least 7 years now. I never have full blown spasms except during pregnancy (happened with DD too), otherwise it just rears its ugly head here and there and I just get through it. It especially sucks when driving. Omg....so much throbbing. I'm absolutely trying that pillow trick!! Thank you again, I really appreciate the advice. I wonder if I should see a chiropractor too? My old one turned out to be a pervert (so sad, he was so nice) so I haven't been to one in a little over 5 years. I was seeing him for my shoulder though. I didn't think sciatica was something a chiropractor could help. This has been very informative! :D
