Ovulation spotting for the first time?

Hi everyone! I am VERY new here but excited to see support!
Has anyone experienced ovulation spotting for the first time after taking clomid? I started my first round CD 5-9 (I ovulate on my own but have been TTC for over a 1 1/2 so doc has me on clomid). Yesterday (CD 12) in the afternoon I noticed spotting and freaked out. Everyone I have talked to has referred to this as ovulation spotting. This would be my first time experiencing it so I was wondering if anyone else has seen this with clomid...
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Ovulation spotting for the first time?

  • I can't speak to whether that was ovulation spotting or not - clomid impacts hormones which can obviously do all kinds of crazy things to your body. What I would say is that if you're on clomid you should be being monitored so that you know exactly when you ovulated and that would answer the question! If that's not happening, you should make sure that you are under the care of an RE (it sound like your doc maybe an obgyn) who will do the proper monitoring. Another possible side effect of clomid is that it can thin your uterine lining. Please make sure you're being properly monitored!

  • I agree with @jnissa that I hope you are being monitored. If not this round, I'd definitely get an RE referral before going back on Clomid again (but, hopefully, you will be pregnant this month). I also ovulate on my own, but it turns out I wasted 3 months trying Clomid with my OBGYN. After a month off, my RE increased my dose to 100 and it turns out Clomid thins my lining. Also, I didn't respond any better to it (only one mature follicle), so it did nothing but reduce my chances of pregnancy for 3 months. I believe I'm in the minority on the effects of Clomid, but it just shows the benefit of being monitored.
