Thank you gift for ob and staff?

Do you plan to get something for the staff in your ob office? I have been there at least once per week this whole pregnancy so feel like I should... I was thinking of bringing in some type of food for the nurses but lost on what to get for my ob. Just want to do a little something to say thank you for all of their help. Would love ideas!

Re: Thank you gift for ob and staff?

  • There have been tons of posts on this already if you only use the search function.

But when gifts for nurses is the question the answer is always food and don't forget the night shift.

  • I plan on baking cookies or something and taking the baby in to visit when he's a few weeks old.
  • I saw posts about the staff in labor and delivery, but not the ob office staff. We do plan to bring food in for the l&d staff
  • I think we will give the OB staff a cookie bouquet

We kept a box of cake balls in the delivery and postpartum room and offered them to every staff member who came in and they LOVED it. Will do the same this time.

ETA: I liked keeping them in my room because it ensured that those taking care of us got a treat- I was worried that if I left them at the nurses station then they would be all gone by the time my night shift nurses came on... And cake balls are expensive so I didn't have a ton.
  • Although homemade is a nice gesture, many people shy away from eating it (alergies, cleanliness ect) plus will you really have time for baking in the first few weeks? Opt for something purchesed and comes individually wraped- like biscotti- that can be left in a break room.

I agree, order something online and have it delivered! Edible Arrangements always nice. I'm sure you can find a company to deliver cookies or something too, if you wanted to send something sweet.
  • Or make something. Like flowers with pipe cleaners and paper and attach a Chapstick or little antibacterial soap!
  • We don't even care if it's individually wrapped!!!! Bring us doughnuts, or box of Joe, bagels and cream cheese, we had patients order us pizza. We love food!!!!!! If you want to keep it in your room than I would be more inclined to eat it if it was individually wrapped. But if your leaving it at the nurses station we will eat just about anything.

  • I'll be bringing in cupcakes a week or so after to say thank you.
  • When I was released from my reproductive endocrinologist, I gave him a small box of chocolates and then I brought a larger box for the staff room. I had been at that clinic for a year and wanted to do something special. For my delivery, I plan on having 2 boxes of cookies (one for the morning staff, one for the evening staff) and chocolates in my room. Then when I go back to my OB for my follow up, I plan on giving a small box of chocolates to her and a larger box for the staff. I know that my OB may not be the one delivering, and my OB nurses won't be there for delivery. I too have been in my OB's office every week this pregnancy and they have been so great, I think they deserve a little thank you gift.

From my experience, healthcare professionals, love edible arrangements!!!
  • I agree with the non homemade idea.. We will probably order the staff pizza or even bring a box of joe from Dunkin Donuts. I also made a few cute bags with hand sanitizer, lotion, and Chapstick for nurses with a cute note just to say thanks.. That is if I have a good experience!
  • We do home births, but when #3 was sick and we were in the hospital for over three weeks, we bought a big box of cookies from a coffee shop for all the staff on our floor.

I've also brought baking to the midwives office when I had an appointment. They loved it!

Gifts for our midwives after the birth are more personal. I'll be getting them locally made bracelets this time.
