Too much Stress at work

I really wanted to work until I had baby Mason but with only 18 days left I am seriously thinking of taking off after this week! I work with a bunch of girls who recently decided I get special treatment. Now it seems they are going out of their way to try to make my job harder and a few have even been trying to get me fired....These so called adults have been acting like a bunch of children and it is just flat out stupid! Taking my lunch and hiding it or throwing it away, putting soda and milk in my water bottle, complaining about me not having to lift anything, saying I'm lazy, calling my boss and telling him I'm outside smoking! This is automatic termination at my job! (I Don't Smoke) I can handle all this childish bullshit but I do worry about my BP. I feel it's better for myself and baby to just walk away rather than get all worked up over this ignorance. I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow to discuss some of the many issues and I feel if he can't help resolve some of the drama and child play, I will be putting in my notice.

Any advice on how I should deal with this? I don't think I'm in the wrong but I don't know the best way to explain this to my boss without sounding like a child myself...

  • ^what @Miz_Liz said. This sounds like harassment and should be reported. Glad you're meeting with your boss, and if he doesn't take it seriously, I'd be making a trip to HR. Probably would do both just to have everything documented with the right people. I'm sorry you're dealing with this and hope it gets resolved ASAP.
  • @Saratiff that's exactly the thought that I had when this started!
  • Yep, record all the information you can and challenge them to check the tapes.  I'd tell him that it's becoming a hostile work environment and try and take off asap due to the high BP.
  • Are you working with high school girls?? I can't ever fathom an adult woman doing these things , jeeze. Sorry you have to deal with this crap the last few weeks of pregnancy.

  • Jesus!! Its good you have a meeting set up with your boss, but documentation is key as well. This is harassment at this point and no matter what should be documented with HR as well. Messing with someones food or drink can be grounds for inmediate termination as well if your employer doesnt want a lawsuit let alone messing with a pregnant womans food?? I seriously hope these women regret this one day when they are pregnant and realize even the easiest pregnancy can be tough to go through physically and emotionally. If things dont feel resolved and you feel it will take a toll on yours and LOs health then absolutely take leave, but I would also be considering your next move with your employer if you dont feel they helped at all bc as I said previously pregnant or not these are all harassment issues that HR should clear up inmediately with a no tolerance stand. They should give these women a one chance ultimatum...stop or youre fired. Im so sorry you are going through this, these women are ridiculous...let us know what happens, ill be thinking of you. No one should have to endure that at a prefessional work place.

I agree with everything above. And I agree with @JNOVA2015 about staying factual and not to let emotions take over. Emotions are one thing but they cannot ignore facts.

I'm so sorry you have to experience this harassment and I hope it gets resolved quickly!
  • Wow. Just wow. People are terribly inconsiderate! Hope you can get this all resolved and not have to quit, but hey, at least what's to come is more exciting!
  • Wow.. What is wrong with these people?! You're carrying a life!
I agree with PP's, glad you already started documenting everything. I really hope your boss gets to the bottom of this!

I kinda feel the same way about my job. I just told them on Friday that I'm not working anymore and didn't really give a big explanation. I have a flexible job though, so that works from me. I make my own schedule and work on an as needed basis. But they're giving me the worst patients. I felt like they were trying to get me to leave. Last Monday (I'm a home health RN) I did two hours of wound care on a guy WITHOUT air conditioning in the Louisiana heat advisory heat! I almost passed out. I'm too big for that!
  • This sounds awful. I'm so sorry you have to deal with so much drama. Good luck with your meeting today!! Let us know how it goes.
  • Great news! Way to stand up for yourself!
  • You are seriously an inspiration for people in this situation!  I have a great job, and great support, but so many people don't stand up for themselves.  I really admire that! :)

  • Glad your boss was so supportive!! Sounds like you have a great boss (now you just need great co-workers!!)

Good for you for sticking it out in retail with your EDD so close. If I had to stand at work instead of sitting in a desk chair I'd be so over it right now!!
  • I was going to ask if you work in retail. I'm sorry you are having to even deal with this at all because nobody should. I'm glad your boss is taking this seriously and it sounds like it is getting handled appropriately. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do with your leave. I am a retail store manager and I highly reccomend taking time off before the baby to de-stress and relax and not be standing 9 hours everyday.

  • I'm so glad your boss handled it this way! He does sound very supportive, I hope no one gives you any more grief for the rest of your time there.
  • Glad it all worked out for you! I fully understand the stress and irritation of retail management (DH and I both have retail backgrounds of 12 years, he's been management for 6 years and I am at a retail home office now for 5). Clearly you have a great manager! Wish they could all be like that!
  • Is it weird that im like overly excited for you?!! Im currently obtaining my master is human resources and orgnizational development. I strongly believe healthy organizations take care of their employees first!! Im so happy your boss did what needed to be done and the follow up meeting is key I will say. I had to have a huge respect for your peers talk with my emoloyees and then followed up with individuals who needed write up etc. for untolerable behavior. I also put in place an open door policy where anyone can come to me at any time if they are feeling disrespected or uncomfortable in their position due to another employee. So good for you for sticking up for yourself!! Your boss never would have had the oppurtunity to fix it if you hadnt gone to him and im glad you awarded him that chance and that he in turn did the right thing!!
  • Makes me proud to be apart of the retail
Industry when I read things like this (how things were handled). Good for your boss and I hope you get to go on leave soon!

  • Good for you and good for your boss! I can't believe adult women would treat you (or anyone) like that. Hope you get to go on leave soon!
  • I'm so glad this all worked out. I have a hard time keeping emotions in check normally, let alone while pregnant. It's a shame people can't act like decent human beings anymore.
