Cramping and Contractions?

2 nights ago I was at work and started having the worst contractions I've ever felt, I called my doctor who advised me to go home rest, drink water, and monitor my contractions. They were about 10-15 minutes apart for a few hours and then quit. I went to bed and when I woke up the next day I had cramping accompanied by contractions. this has been going on for about 3 days. Is anyone else experiencing this?

If you are worried still call your doc back. I would say though that if you aren't noticing any kind of pattern to them you're probably not in labor. But I'm obviously not a doctor. I would write down when you're having them and what time and for how long so you can be prepared if you call your doctor back.

I had contractions about like that for 3 days with my second, then went in to active labor. I would still call your doctor. Just want to offer that it may be very early labor, and your body getting ready for the real deal. Definitely drink lots of water and rest as much as possible.

  • There is no way any of us to be able to tell you this. You need to call the on call doctor or go to labor and delivery. Good luck

  • Thank you both, I figured I would have to call my doctor so I will get right on that but first i wanted to check on here to see if anyone may have a clue as to whether or not it was Braxton hicks or false labor maybe. Mostly wanted to see if I was the only one experiencing this phenomena. :)
  • I'm experiencing the same thing. Every day my contractions get stronger but I go to sleep and sleep through them plus they're not consistent. My doctor told me yes I'm having contractions but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm in labor (a few days ago). It's exhausting getting my hopes up everyday.
  • I am going on day 4 of contractions that are 13 to 15 min apart accompanied by cramping. I went to L&D on Friday and am 3 cm 80% effaced. I see the doctor tomorrow morning for monitoring of my contractions and we will go from there. It is best to get it checked out. False labor or not.
  • I ended up in L&D tonight with contractions 2-3 minutes apart for a few hours (with painful cramping and lower back pain) but only fingertip dilated, so they sent me home (still with contractions 2-3 min apart). I think they are starting to slow now. They were 5-7 min apart for a good 5 hours yesterday and then slowed... Contractions/cramping don't necessarily mean labor but still good to get checked. I don't want baby here early though. I'm scheduled for a c-section the day before my EDD in 12 days, and I'd much rather just get to then without going into labor. My back is killing me though :/
