PSA: Baby GAP

I recently learned two useful things about Baby GAP that I never knew: 1.) Their "free shipping on $50 or more" is BEFORE you enter a promo code, I had about $53 worth of stuff in my cart, selected the free shipping option, then entered the promo code to give me 40% off and it came down to $30 something but I still got the free shipping!......2.) I was in the physical store today and I saw a shirt I had just ordered online - online I had paid just over $2 for it after the promo and sale price but in the store it was closser to $10 or something like that, the lady said they are two separate entities and so the prices are sometimes different but if there is a better deal online and you bring it to their attention, they will honor it; however you can't "double dip" so for example if it is $10 online but they are only offering 25% off and the store is $11 but offering 40% off, they won't give you the lower price and the 40%, just whichever is the better deal. (FYI, prices online vs. in store are often different at Target and Wal Mart too, and they will price match their online prices!).

Re: PSA: Baby GAP

  • I've gotten so much cute stuff from baby gap at a really good price, like cheaper than target would be. It seems like everything is always on sale plus 40 percent off which is awesome but makes me feel like gap is going out of business.

I think it is just because they are getting in their fall line now, so they want to rid the store/online of all of the spring/summer that is left.

I don't think Target is that cheap. A sale at Old Navy and Gap has just as good, if not better, pricing. Plus, free returns! I always feel like they are going to cut me off at some point because I end up returning so much.

Not much beats a Kohls sale with 30% off online though (old navy can but that's about it). Just my .02 from my extensive research in finding the best baby clothes deals (I'm kind of insane about it ;).

  • I have never been impressed by the Gap sales, their clothes always seemed over priced (guess I am shopping at the wrong time) but Old Navy always seems to have decent clothes for cheap.

If you buy full price...but the sales are usually good if you hit it when they have the additional 40% off.

Walmart may not. DH and I used to work there and they didn't. Its been a while (thank God!) so they may have changed their policy. Customer would always try and we had to say no. The excuse was that online was cheaper because they didnt have to pay the same overhead as a store. It may also depend on the store you go to. The one I frequent is terrible and DH and I are always teaching them how to do the things that "they can't do". Its both funny and irritating.
  • Love baby gap... Just placed a big order today

I loooove Baby Gap. I always justified buying that and Gymboree bc when you get the sales it's an awesome deal -- and having both boys, the clothes ALWAYS held up better than any ON or Target brands. It's so nice buying something for the older one knowing it will still hold up and look nice for the second one in two years.

. Now I'm having a girl... and their baby girl stuff is adorable and totally how I want to dress her so I will just use the sales argument to justify. :)
  • My kids would be naked if not for GAP. As a GAP silver card holder I get everything 40-90% off.

The one near me does - and I think it is more recent that they do (based on the conversation they had about it when I asked). I had seen some bed rails when we got DS his big boy bed online - I decided rather than doing the "reserve online and pickup in store" I would just go get them off the shelf myself. When they rang me up it came to about $16 more than if I had done it the other way so I went to Cust Service and they did a return and a rebuy with the online price. Otherwise I could have returned them and just bought them online on my phone and selected to pick them up in the store.

They are having constant 30-40% off sales because they are doing really horribly financially speaking and are supposed to close down at least 175 stores this year in the USA. They have been going through an identity crisis of their "signature" style for the past few years. I certainly don't mind the sales, and have bought a ton of stuff there for this baby and my son since before he was born. However because of the constant sales people no longer want to pay full price for items there, similar to Kohls.

Gymboree seems to be going through the same thing. I have noticed a decrease in their quality too.

  • Over Christmas they had 50 percent off and I bought a ton of maternity stuff then. I'm lucky I didn't gain too much and fit in it all
