Sunburn 11 week old

i had my 11 week old at the beach under a $70 umbrella all day sleeping. Had no idea that I should of covered him more than that. Immediately he had red under his eyes, nose and lower forehead. Today has tiny blister and one that popped because my daughter scratched it. I put cold wash cloth and aloe. What do I do

The same thing happened to my little guy. As long as she doesn't get a fever and still making normal diapers she should be okay. I actually pumped some milk and put it in the fridge. Once it was cold, I used one of his small wash cloths and dipped it in the milk. Then I dabbed it on his sunburn a few times a day. Made his face sticky, but healed quickly.

  • You can put sunscreen on them. I know this isn't helpful now but for the future.
  • I will def put sunscreen on next time. I have really pure stuff too! I just really thought umbrella would be ok. I have been putting breastmilk on it. Then it started pussing yellow and orange. I took him to urgent care and doc told me its infected and gave me a topical. It already look better. Next time I guess I will take more precautions. Haha. I thought I already was. Don't trust umbrellas!!
  • Oh poor guy :( glad it's better now!
  • If your at the beach the umbrella most likely did its job but you tend to forget the Rays bouncing of that sand and water. It's like a mirror
  • Ugh this freaks me out so bad. We are bringing LO to the pool for the day at a campsite and I really don't want to because of the sun and heat. But DH is insisting we do because his family is going and they never see LO (their fault - but oh let me make the effort for you to see him, no biggie -_-)
  • @courtneylevesque - They do make an infant UV tent - I got one on Amazon for $40. We've used it a bunch and had no issues. It is very portable and easy to set up. It fits both my LOs in their bouncers (I use it on the back deck a lot). I also combine with sunscreen (reapplied frequently), sun hats, car seat fans - handy in a lot of places other than car seats - and as much shade as possible. We did an all day pool day a few weeks ago & were fine.
  • @blairdavis99 thanks for the suggestion!! I told my DH that we were getting a UV tent or he can forgot about LO going. He is online now looking for one ;)
  • @courtneylevesque - happy to help! The one I got is called the Schylling Infant UV Play Tent. It's blue & yellow. Great reviews. I can't figure out how to post the link on my phone or I would...
  • Awwww poor little baby. Lots of kisses for the poor guy
  • Thanks for posting for a reminder to us. I hope your LO feels better very soon!
