UTI that won't go away?

I went to the hospital when I was about 5 weeks pregnant and was informed of a UTI. This was weird to me because I've had my fair share of UTI's in my life, all of them hurt very badly and went away within 1-2 days by drinking a crazy amount of water. What is odd is I felt no urinary pain. I went to a doctor at about 8 weeks and still had this UTI that I can't feel, and I'm worried that this is far too prolonged and may harm me and/or baby. I'm now 12w and the only indication of a UTI is occasionally hazy urine. I was prescribed antibiotics at 5w from the hospital but didn't know if they were safe during pregnancy  (the doctor who saw me that night told me I was not pregnant when in fact I was and so I didn't know if the medication he gave me would be safe for pregnancy since he thought there wasn't one!) I still have the antibiotics and am wondering if they are safe to take, and also what is up with this 'ghost' UTI? And is it harmful for it to last such a long time? I want to thank anyone who answers in advance, because I can't seem to reply using my app or going online to the site itself, so thanks to those with advice and/or answers!

  • I think you should call your doctor and find out if you can take those antibiotics or if they can prescribe you something else. I've only had UTI's while pregnant and they got bad fast.

As someone who nearly died from a kidney infection, call your doctor ASAP and ask about the antibiotics.  DO NOT PUT OFF A UTI.

I used to get UTIs frequently.  After seeing a urologist I was given a prescription for a low dose antibiotic to be taken after intercourse. . . . I now haven't had a UTI in years.  I spoke to the urologist about taking the antibiotic while pregnant.  He gave the greenlight, as did my OB when I actually because pregnant.  I would call your OB ASAP, there are certainly antibiotics you can take when pregnant!
