@kettlekitten I been to the ER once for it and doc send me home. It was pretty much no labor he had me go in and they weren't close enough. Did some testing and nothing . So I have to take the pain pretty much I break my water, lose the mucus plug or contractions are 5 min appear now
I've had pretty regular contractions (10 mins apart) for like 12 hours now. I'm a FTM but damn I didn't think early labor contractions would hurt this bad...I'm already contemplating reconsidering my all-natural plan...
Sorry I forgot to add...I had called my midwife and she said there was nothing they could do until they were closer together. She told me to take some Tylenol, a bath and wait it out
I really cannot understand all the women saying they're so ready and wish they would just go into labor at 36 or 37 weeks. Your baby still has 3-4 weeks of cooking to do. The most recent studies suggest that those last couple of weeks are extremely important for lung and brain development. Do you really want your child born early without getting all of his/her brain development time in just so you can be comfortable a few weeks earlier??

This x100. I just had my baby at 35.4 and watching what he had to go through for treatment for his lungs, wires and tubes all over him. Feeding him through a tube, was gut wrenching. Not to mention I couldn't even hold him until almost 55 hours after he was born I would have done anything to have him stay in and cook for 4-5 more weeks. Thank god he is healthy and happy now, but that last month is so important for them.

Actually baby is fully developed, studies show it's better for the baby to come out after 40 weeks. Baby is at full effect by 37 weeks all depends on what you eat and if your excersice. Being pregnant is not just letting your baby grow on its own. Baby needs a lot of things that mommy eats. What you eat is what they get to grow on protein and others things When I got check and baby is completely cooked . That's why doctor said I'm ready for baby to come and get schedule at 39 weeks for induction. My babies are small! Runs in the family. Everything that's online isn't true. But I agree if she stays in for what I need is better I just can't stand the pain every 20min.
@MrT723 thank you I walked a little and had tons of water. Didn't have any Tylenol so I got in the tub w warm water to relax. It helped for a bit and I slept for 3 hrs haha that was a win. The pain isn't a joke

@CaliforniaDream87 my 1st was born at 42 weeks he was over full term. He was 5lbs 13oz 17 inches long. Pretty much the size of a premie. Studies show after 37 weeks baby is ok to come out. That's why if you go into labor doctors aren't worried about it and they don't stop it. Anything under is not recommended. My husband was 7 months when he was born and full developed which is really rare. I don't know how that works I guess it just depends on what we eat and how we as the mother take care of ourself. Remember we have a diet also. @jlsweets
I just don't understand your whole food reasonings?? Are you saying that moms who eat healthy can have their babies at 37 weeks issue free? Not trying to be snarky, really trying to understand what you are saying.
@jlsweets sorry haha I'm so horrible at trying to explain. When I was in the beginning of my pregnancy I couldn't keep food down. Everything I would eat I would throw up. So baby was not getting any nutrients . I was like that for 5 months so he told me if I didn't eat baby wouldn't get what it needed to develop. So he recommended protein Ensure. I did that for a month. Baby gained weight in that month. Ever since then I been eating better. What you eat baby takes what it needs. And if your not eating or staying healthy is no Bueno. Just as in when your not pregnant if you eat fast food so much grease it's not good for your heart. It slow you down. Every time I go to the doctor now they check my sugar level because it puts you and the baby at risk. I tend to ask tons of questions. My mom is a medical assistant and have friends who are nurses. So I always ask them a lot of questions.

Obviously, babies are born early. That's a fact. However, I won't ever understand why someone would *want* their baby born before 40 weeks. Babies are not "fully cooked" at 37 weeks. Term? Sure. Also, your comment in regards to eating healthy.....seriously?
@CaliforniaDream87 ask your doctor about eating habits when your pregnant. When your pregnant you actually have an amount of weight you can weight if not it puts you and baby at risk on things. When they do an ultra sound by someone who measures your baby and the fluid they can actually see if the baby is fully developed. That's why they do that to check.

Ok I see what you are trying to say now. Of course it's important to eat healthy for the baby so the baby is getting all those great nutrients. However just by eating healthy doesn't mean your baby is ready, "fully cooked", and issue free by 37 weeks. My sister is a health nut and had a superb diet her whole pregnancy. Her first was born at 37 and still had to stay at the hospital for a week. It's a very naive way of thinking and I can't see any doctor saying that they can tell your baby is fully cooked. I'll leave it at that
@xsunshinelady15 lol, we would all go crazy w research. Just as every doctor has different opinions as we all do. Hahah it's weird how every doctor doesn't tell you the same

I don't need to ask my doctor about eating habits while pregnant. I've BTDT. I'm well aware that eating as healthy as possible is best but does not guarantee a "fully cooked" baby at 37 weeks. Nope and nope.
Seriously, if my doctor told me that I would run for the hills.
@jlsweets I agree that's why when my husband was born at 7 months the doctors were surprised even his mom. She said she was shocked he went home after 3 days. I Kidd you not I couldn't believe it until she showed me paperwork my mouth dropped.

After being on this board, I am starting to realize some doctors are fucking idiots and they buy their degrees online. That or either people listen to their doctors half the way and/or misunderstand them the other half way and then come on here preaching some off the wall stuff that make us all ragey preggos. LOL people can't really be that... Never mind. Good luck with your labor and delivery, I hope it happens right when you want it to happen. Nothing but the best
This is entertaining and confusing. Either OP has a hard time with words or there's just all sorts of misleading information being fed to her. Maybe both?
1) Eating healthy is not the only factor in growing a healthy baby. Even if you are perfectly your entire pregnancy, your baby is still not "fully cooked" at 37 weeks.
2) It bothers me that @googlyeyes84 seems to equate size with being full term and ready to be born. Babies are born at a range of sizes, and a different range of sizes can be healthy. A baby could be born at 35 weeks at 7 lbs and need a 3 week NICU stay for lung development, and another baby could be born at 5.9 lbs at 40 weeks and be perfectly healthy. None of that changes the fact that weeks 36-40 are extremely important for lung and brain development. Weight does not equal health.
I would like to add that ensure is not really that healthy of a food if that's going to be a sticking point for you. Also, ultrasounds cannot determine brain maturity which determines whether once your baby is born, they can remember to breathe on their own. And lastly, anyone that can't use punctuation or the proper use of there, they're, and their has no business pretending to be knowledgable on anything medical or prenatal.
@jnova2015 i agree my doc doesnt really tell me much i still call my old doctor from my 1st child. i feel like he knew so much more.. Thats why i dont really base things on what he tells me because most of the time im left in the limbo. So i call my old doc and he specifies so much better. i cant change my doc now to late.

I think it's more misunderstanding on the patients part. Some people have a habit of taking bits and pieces of what people say, and turn it into something that sounds logical to them. I'm sorry googly eyes. .. you make no sense. Nothing you said it's logical. But if it's a premie baby you want, I wish you lots of luck with whatever your outcome is.
@xsunshinelady15 i agree with you. I know my new doc doesnt really answer my questions. I moved from a different state since my husband got stationed out in Illinois for the Navy and i kidd you not he doesnt even seem like a doctor. i walk in pee, hear the heart beat, check for contractions and he tells me everything is ok. So i ask questions and i can never get a straight answer. So i literally still call my doctor from my 1st child. He corrects me most of the time and always tell me to make sure i stay 40 weeks prego.
@californiadream87 yes i dont know what happen. I came back and it was changed.. Someone reported it, saying that this conversation was getting out of control.. I got an email saying it was unacceptable. i cant even edit it
As did the original post. I've been looking for the perfect gif for this thread but nothing expresses my ragey, annoyed and judgmental emotions well enough.
@mamaloaf right, my thing is everyone is in here to talk and get everyones opinion on things we dont have answers to or if we are confused, if you dont like the conversation. just leave it alone and move on. its crazy how ppl get but hurt! I love to hear what other mothers think. Because i myself am confused on things even when this is my second time baby.
