Tomorrow is my LO first day at day care. He is EBF. How many ounces should I plan on sending with him? On average how much do babies drink a day? He is nine weeks old...
I would start with 3 oz bottles and have a couple of 1 oz portions if he needs more than that. According to my LC, the average BF baby will drink around 25oz in 24 hrs.
My LO is 10 weeks and has been at daycare for the last week. I send three 4 oz bottles and one 3 oz bottle. They feed her about every 2 or 2.5 ours. I have them give her the 3 ounce bottle last, because I usually nurse her shortly after picking her up whether she's hungry or not.
I pump but my lo usually takes 2 to 3 at each feeding but during waking hours she eats more frequently. So like every hr. It also depends on your lo schedule. How many times does your lo usually eat during your work schedule? Then plan bottles accordingly and see how daycare feeds the babies, is it a schedule or on demand?
Re: Breastmilk to daycare
"If you’re apart for 8-12 hours, most babies take about 10-15 oz. This is one-third to one-half of baby’s daily intake. If baby takes more, try to find out why."
