I just found out that my 5th IUI failed. For a short background, I have been pregnant three times before, twice on my own and once via IUI. All three ended in miscarriage during the first trimester. I have unexplained infertility as a diagnosis. After my third IUI resulted in a pregnancy and then a loss, I decided to try IUI again. The past two times have been with a higher dose of clomid and progesterone with no luck. I can do one more round of clomid and another IUI if I choose. IVF may be the next step. I am 33 years old.
I have had all forms of testing and everything comes back fine. My husband has been tested and after sperm washes his sperm count and motility is more than perfect.
I guess I am looking for advice/support. Any one here go on to have successful IVF after so many IUI's? I am just wondering if it is worth it to spend all that money just to end in miscarriage again. I know how horrible that sounds but I don't think I can handle another miscarriage. This process is HARD!! There are days I want to throw in the towel but giving up is even harder to do.

Yes, agree with PP.
You said you've had testing for everything, did that include a blood test for MTHFR mutation?
We had a loss, unexplained infertility, failed iuis, successful ivf that ended in twin loss. We felt the same way you did! I was terrified to do another ivf cycle, fearing I'd lose another child. We decided to do the genetic testing and the only thing they found was I have the MTHFR mutation. We looked it up and I had about half of the things listed on what it can cause within your body, like fatigue, bowel issues, frequent headaches, and then unexplained infertility. Now, our Dr explained that the doctors are all about 50/50 split on if it does affect fertility but she put me on folic acid and baby aspirin regiment just in case.
I don't know if that is what helped us over the hump but it was the only thing that changed. We are currently 15w4d with healthy twins.
Whenever I hear or read on here someone who has a similar struggle to me, I always suggest they get tested for the mutation. If it is indeed why this pregnancy is sticking, it was such an easy and cheap fix and I want more woman to know about it.
Good luck on your journey. And know, you're not alone. Always allow yourself to vent and cry out your frustrations. I like to cry it out in the shower and clear my head for the day.
