Pumping.... like an addiction!

My whole pregnancy I was back & forth on breastfeeding or formula feeding. Well I had what I thought was an awesome pump that my insurance sent me. I brought it to the hospital with me to pump where I discovered it was crap. Haha
My lactation specialist let me use the medela symphony. That pump is AMAZING! She was able to get my insurance to approve a medela pump in style. I swear that I'm addicted to pumping now!!! Baby girl can't room in with me, but my internal alarm clock has been going off every 2 hrs to pump! She's loving this liquid gold now that it's really coming in! The NICU says it should fatten her up faster than formula!
Oh and I used to be shy... Now I let whoever knocks come right on in while I pump. My husband thinks it's hilarious.

  • Hahaha! I felt the same way. DH would clean my pump parts and bottle the milk and his favorite thing was to tell me when I would beat a previous pumping record. We both got so much happiness watching the volume go up!

  • @emmacake08 we've been recording the ml and taking pics!!! Hahaha it was like Christmas yesterday bc it would double every time I pumped! It truly is the little things.... I just love it!
  • Good for you. Pumping is a lot of work and I commend all those who do it.
  • I am so glad it's going well and your dsughter is thriving. Great work!!

  • I feel like my life revolves around pumping now lol but I get really excited each day when I get more and more milk
  • That's awesome!! and more pumping makes more milk, it's a great cycle. I'm glad to hear your daughter is drinking it up well! If you don't have one of the pumping bras, I'd invest! They are basically band style, and have cut outs in the nipple for the funnel looking piece to go into. Then you can pump with no hands. I could get going on a book or bump and 20 minutes flies by!
  • @amylianne that's on my shopping list!!!
  • Good job mama! It is a ton of work, but an awesome payoff. Curious what was the initial pump that insurance gave you that didn't work as well?
  • So awesome! Good for you! :)

Always hold on to hope ❤
  • @PixelPosy they initially gave me the first years breastflow memory pump. It pumps, but not nearly as strong even though it has adjustable settings. It's hands free and digital with a timer. All of the features are great on paper, but it takes 30 minutes to get the same amount of what I'd get for 15 minutes with a medela. The battery sounded weak even when it was plugged into an outlet. It came with an awesome bag and bottle cooler which I'm going to put my medela stuff in now. Haha
  • @Irichhx05 isn't it such an awesome feeling??? I love it! I formula fed my 1st due to lack of production. I'm so glad I didn't have that problem again bc this is such a rewarding feeling!
  • @sjra1028 it is! This is my first so I didn't know how exciting and rewarding it would actually feel
