August 2015 Moms

I have never been so exhausted.

I can't sleep anymore, like literally can't sleep. This is day 4 of laying in bed, having RLS and numbing in my hands and legs, and getting 0 hours of sleep. Don't say some cliche thing to me about the baby keeping me up soon, I've had a newborn before, I DON'T want to hear it.  I am completely miserable. I'm ugly crying into a bowl of cereal right now, I just want to be done with all this.  I have tried braces, I've tried advil to help with swelling in my wrists, I have tried every sleeping position...I really hope I don't have 4 more weeks of this to deal with, I won't have any energy to get this baby out.

  • Newborns keep you up at night. Sorry, I had to go there since you're so snarky for some reason.

  • Did you discuss with your doctor? I know some sleep aids are ok to take.

Sorry you can't sleep. I've heard RLS is a bitch.

  • I'm dealing with RLS too.. the only thing that helps me is stretching right before bed and the occasional massage by DH. Even with that, it still wakes me up and keeps me up.
I know it sucks, I really hope it gets better for you soon!! Almost to the finish line.

Uhhh, I don't really understand why you're telling us how to respond.

Anyway....no sleep here either. Unfortunately, it's apart of the end of pregnancy. Maybe talk to your doctor about some sleep aids.

  • Try a magnesium supplement for your restless legs. It typically works within 15 minutes for me. You may also be dehydrated and just need to drink more to reduce the swelling. If none of that helps, my doctor recommended Benadryl as a sleep aid.

I've been suffering from insomnia as well. Sometimes due to the same issues as you're having, but, mostly due to acid reflux even being medicated. It sucks.

Hang in there Momma, you're almost there!

  • You could try taking a warm bath with Epsom salts (i use a lavender scented one) and/or drink some hot chamomile tea with a bit of honey. I'm sorry you're having a hell of a time
  • I'm with you and I'm sorry you're going thru it. Carpal tunnel is what's killing me tho. I posted on my FB about not being able to sleep for 4 nights in a row and one of my friends that's a ftm of a 3 week old said the comment about newborns keeping you up. She's also a stay at home mom and had no trouble sleeping in her final weeks. I'm still working over full time and will be a working mom. It's very difficult to drive and work when I'm this tired and depressing to think about having to go into labor at this level of exhaustion.

The good news for me is that I think my body finally wore out and I was able to sleep last night off and on for about 6 hours. I think your body will eventually give in as well.

If all else fails, try a melatonin supplement! It works wonders.

    Good luck!
  • So sorry. I am with you. Mine was just sitting in a waiting room all night to have nephew born. I left and he was born two hours later. :( I'm running on 3 hours of sleep but it takes me forever to go to sleep and then I don't stay that way for long.
