Baby Names

first stages of finding a girl name!

We just recently found out we're having a girl so we're still in the first stages of finding the right name.  I have a Gavin and a Natalie already, so something that sounds nice with those names.

My list so far:

Angela

Rebecca

Julie

Jenna

Lydia

Valerie

Janelle

Any strong opinions on these names?  I have no clue about what the middle name will be yet.

  • Those are all nice names. The only +/- I have for them are personal connections. Like DH's ex or relative's names.

If you're looking for udeas, try searching your family tree and/or reading credits for tv shows and movies

  • Lydia is the only one I would drop, it's just overdone in my area at least and not as good as many other ones.

Love Rebecca and Valerie.  I like Jenna, Janelle and Julie.  Angela is ok.

  • Lydia, Rebecca, and Jenna are my personal favorites.  The others are ok.  Are you planning on using a nn at all?
  • Julie is my favorite, but I like Julia or Juliet even better, and they're less matchy with Natalie. You could still use Julie or Jules as a nn.
  • I like Julia too, but my DH isn't crazy about it.  I'm not sure if we'll end up using a nickname or not.  We had planned on using a nickname with my daughter but 99.9% of the time we just call her Natalie.

  • I feel like those names are kids born in the 80's. The only one I like out of them, is Lydia.

  • I have a Julia but I don't really care for the name Julie (we mostly call her by her full name and sometimes Jules.) From your list I really like Valerie and Lydia. Rebecca and Jenna are alright and I don't really like Janelle or Angela.

  • I like Valarie and Julie but I don't think it sounds right when siblings names end in the same sound.

Lydia would be nice. It is my favorite and sounds nice with Natalie. I also think Rebecca, Angela, and Jenna go well, though I'm not a fan of Jenna. Julia would work really well also. I also really don't like Janelle.

    Other suggestions:

    Angelica

    Veronica
    Victoria

I know they're all legit but they seem very 90s.
  • Janelle is definitely my fave from the list.
  • I like Rebecca or Lydia best with your sibset. I like Julie and Valerie too, but they are a little matchy with the end sound being the same as Natalie. Jenna, Janelle, and Angela are dated and NMS.

    This exactly!

  • I like Rebecca the most. I think it sounds best with your sib set.
  • I love Julie
  • I like Jenna the most on your list.
    DD: Ophelia 5/18/15
  • My vote goes for Lydia first and Valerie second. Jenna is my least favorite but I associate the name w the train wrecks Jennna Jameson and Jenna Marbles.
  • I think they're all cute with the exception of Janelle. Valerie is also NMS but still a good name for a little girl.

    EDD for #1: 3/19/17
  • I want to say Valerie since it's my name and I like it, but something about both girl names having an 'ie' ending would bug me. But if it doesn't bother you then that would be my vote!
I also like Angela, that would be my second pick. Then Rebecca third.
