Laugh or Cry

Not sure if this post makes me want to laugh or cry...have a read and then feel free to add any of your own "learning moments" below! https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12597709/things-you-learned-at-an-inappropriately-old-age-stolen-from-another-board/p1

Re: Laugh or Cry

  • Okay preggo brain. I forgot I was doing recon and contributed to the thread! :-SS

Some of it actually makes me laugh bc even though I am a very smart woman, I can totally relate to some of the ditzy-ness on that thread!

  • There was literally none of that I didn't know/learn at an appropriate age.... :-/ I feel like good ol' common sense would have solved about 90% of those.. My best friend (at 18 years old) thought that if you adopted a foreign baby and raised it in English-speaking America, it would still grow up with an accent.. It took me a year to convince her otherwise, lol.
  • Thanks for the laugh! While reading through the thread I kept mumbling "These people are f-ing stupid." DH asked what I was talking about, so I shared some ofthem with him. It scares me that these people are reproducing!

I didn't read them all, but faced with a realization- my DH is a full tank of useless trivia knowledge. He is ALWAYS teaching me something I don't know. The funny part is, he is also VERY good at making stuff up and often I cannot tell what's real and what's not. Thus, I've been forced to become BFFs with Wikipedia and Google. The best one was when he tried to convince me that Hushpuppies (those little fried corn bread rolls you get with seafood sometimes) were actually live sea critters at once.

Similar to the post about 3 holes but one of my sorority sisters in college didn't realize your pee doesn't come from the same hole that your period does. For years she had been taking out her tampon everytime she had to pee. Lol.
The same thing happened with me and my college roommate. We had a small argument about it and then I finally said, "How do you think a tampon works then!? You don't have to take it out." That was the end of the argument, haha.

  • Did anyone else think of the children's story "Amelia Bedelia" While reading them? Smh
  • When I was dating in college, Steve Miller Band was doing a concert at the school. My boyfriends last name was Miller and said that Uncle Steve was in town. I'd never heard the band before so I just assumed that he was being serious. I was so confused why I didn't meet Uncle Steve or see Uncle Steve play.

Bahahaha. Both H and I got a chuckle out of this.
  • I read these and they made me feel really smart, so I read them to DH. Then he said, "Um, do you remember when we started dating and I had to tell you that WWE isn't real?"

    He's right :(

How are you expected to know that? Especially when those people get very real injuries sometimes. Don't feel bad. :P
  • I just learned from my husband about 2 years ago where Novascotia is located. All these years I thought it was in Russia. I also learned a few months ago what the 7 wonders of the world are. When asked what they were, I responded, "You know, like the things in this world that you wonder if they're real or not. Like Atlantis."
