Doc Appointments

Just out of curiosity - how have your doc appointments looked this pregnancy ? I'm 36 weeks now, first pregnancy, and I've had a total of 3 ultrasounds...my third being next Thursday. No vaginal exams as of yet. Just "check-in" chats each month and then bi-weekly since 28 weeks. But I talk to friends and they tell me different things. I suppose it depends on high risk vs normal pregnancies??

Re: Doc Appointments

  • There are some posts on this already but your schedule sounds normal for a low risk pregnancy. It will probably go to once weekly visits starting now.

  • My experience has been exactly as @sandrabrooke . No need to stress :)
  • You're 36 weeks in, you should have asked this question like 10 weeks ago. With 4 weeks left what does it matter now?

This made me literally LOL. I JUST finished reading your post on another thread that you were going to start getting snarky.

I only get 3 ultrasounds - 8 week, 12 week, 20 week. I don't get one in late pregnancy unless something is wrong. :( I wanna see the baby, it's been too long!!! Currently in bi-weekly (measure the belly, listen to heart beat, ask if I feel baby move), weekly will start at 36.
  • I wish that's all I had to do!
  • Every dr office is somewhat different and also depends on your medical history.

This pregnancy I had 8 week ultrasound, 12 week for nt scan, 20 week anatomy scan and then 35 week growth scan due to trying for vbac.

Apts were once a month, then every 2/3 weeks and now starting at 36 weeks on Monday they are once a week. Scheduled up until a week past my edd just incase I go overdue.

Apts are weight check, blood pressure check, and dr comes in asks if I have had any contractions/bleeding/ etc. review any tests since my last apt like if I had blood work or an ultrasound done. Then she measures my belly and listens to heartbeat on Doppler and I leave. It's usually less then 20 minutes total for the apt.

Last time I had pre-e and the apts were longer, involved more labs and ultrasounds and closer monitoring on my blood pressure etc.

  • Sounds perfectly normal for a low risk pregnancy.

As I said above. I'm curious so I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter when I ask... Geez. But thanks for the...."advice"?

Im 36 weeks and I been on weekly visits past 2 weeks with weight check, lisening to baby, blood pressure check, measuring belly, last week i got cbc, hiv lab test and gbs swab and ending with dialation check on both visits. I had my 3rd ultrasound but was to measure baby only because shes in position facing spine head down no pics of her face at all.
  • My late ultrasound baby was in position head down facing spine and that's how u want the baby soo no face pics of baby just measurement strickly. I was sad but i guess im glad shes in position. They dont move the baby to take better pics of face they leave them alone if they r in position.
