My due date is on a Wednesday so I was planning on working up until the Sunday before. I would have been willing to work until I went into labor, but my boss wanted a date. However my doctors have now put me out of work early, so that date didn't work out anyway.
I would definitely suggest working as long as you can. Being home just waiting for baby gets boring.
I plan on working until baby comes. I am scheduled for a csection on 8/24, so that helps with planning. So unless ourlittle guy decides to come early or I am put on bed rest, I'll be working.
I'm due August 7. I am officially on the schedule through August 5. I have back ups for that last week, in case I go early, and I can pick up shifts as much as I want until he is here.
I'm due August 14th and my last day is scheduled for July 17th I thought I could push my leave date further out, but I discovered working in retail and on my feet for 40 hours a week is just not as easy as I thought it would be
I worked up until I went into labor with my first but I'm starting to think that I'm just going to aim for the due date with this little one. I went 11 days late last time and I would hate to just sit at home waiting though.
It's getting harder and harder to make it in though!
I plan to work up until the day Baby is born. I work in an office setting, and my boss and I have an understanding regarding when I simply feel I can't go any longer. The only caveat (and this is NOT a bad thing) is that closer to my due date, my boss and my coworkers would prefer I work from home because nobody wants my water breaking in the office (unlikely) or having to drive me to the hospital!
I worked up until the day I had my first daughter. In fact, I worked the day that I went into the hospital. My thought is that it's better to have time off AFTER baby when there's something to do, rather than days (or weeks) before when all you're doing is waiting and stressing. Better to keep things as normal as possible for as long as possible!
My plan is to take 14 weeks off post-baby, then return to work part time for 2-3 weeks until after the New Year.
I have a scheduled c-section so I'm working til the day before (last day will be from home though, and let's be honest - won't include much actual work). I'm taking 14.5 weeks this time (includes 2.5 weeks of vacation, 6 weeks parental leave, 2 weeks medical leave, and short-term disability over 12 weeks of FMLA).
The last 2 times were vaginal births and I worked in the office until the Friday before my due date each time - with my first, she was born on that Sunday so it worked out great. With my second, he waited a week longer than that so I semi-worked from home that last week. He again was born on a Sunday so the Friday before that was my last day. I took 12 weeks with both of them.
As of right now, working until water breaks or labor starts. Obviously plans may change as i am not due till 8/6. Want all the time at home with LO that I can get.
I will start teleworking completely the week of 7/27 until I have the baby 9due 8/12). I will probably take a week completely off and kind of work (but probably do more than I should) until I start teleworking/going into the office a day or two a week in late October.
My workplace is pretty flexible, and I really don't want to stop working for months at a time. I got crazy bored last time and didn't like having to catch up on everything when I finally returned.
Since I'm self employed I can sort of do what I want, which is great, but it's also kinda scary. My EDD is August 11, hoping to work until August 1st or perhaps August 8. Hoping to start up again the first of October.
EDD is 8/21 and I'm starting leave 8/8 and returning to work 12/27.
I run a few retail markets and it's getting tough being on my feet. But I'm pushing....
That's amazing that you get to take levae until the end of December!
I feel very blessed! For me, it's so important to have this time because you never really get it back. That and I'll have a 2 year old to tend too this time
I wasn't planning on starting my mat until baby was born but I also planned on working until at least August, but because of random things that keep happening (flu, etc.) after this week I will have not been to work in a month. So I might just say screw it and start it sooner. Don't want to lose time off with my baby, but I also can't afford to not be getting paid!
I'm going to keep working until the baby comes, hopefully! I get 12 weeks off and honestly, I'm already freaking out a little from the thought of taking 3 months completely off and then coming back full force. Gotta love my anxiety.
EDD is 8/29, last day on my job is 8/29. I'm a lawyer and work for a judge, and (very) luckily he is understanding and accommodating that I might need to go out a few days early. Hoping I don't though!
I'm due August 14th and my last day is scheduled for July 17th I thought I could push my leave date further out, but I discovered working in retail and on my feet for 40 hours a week is just not as easy as I thought it would be
Yes. I work retail as well which is why I'm taking off 2/3 weeks early ...
Taking leave when I can't take it anymore or when he arrives. Now I plan to stay working until I have him. Due 8/23. But my lack of concentration is making this plan seem like a total fail.
I was planning on working under I went into labor (due August 3rd) but then we decided on inducing on July 27th (because of complications with GD and other factors). As of yesterday, I'm done with work though, taking STD before and will still be entitled to STD after baby gets here for the same 6 weeks as if I didn't take it before. I will return to work Oct 5th.
In the Netherlands you have to leave 4-6 weeks before your due date. You can decide depending on how you are feeling. You get a total of 16 weeks so if you take 4 weeks you get 12 weeks after baby arrives. I'm working until week 36. And then will be induced at week 38 due to GD and insulin. And then with my vacation too I'll be off until January
EDD is 8/20, currently on the schedule through 8/15 which the Saturday before. We will be training the girl we hope to fill in for me the first 2 weeks of August so hopefully she is good!
Due date is August 11th and my last day of work is July 10th, my job gives you 4 weeks prior to your due date and 6-8 weeks after depending on the type of delivery
I plan on working right up until I go into labor. It's really important to me that I get all the time I can after the baby arrives to adjust and bond. Also, the thought of just sitting around the house wondering "is today the day?" sounds terrible to me. I would much rather have the distraction of work. It would be different if I had a physically demanding job though.
I'm due 8/2 and my last day of work was 7/3. I work retail management and although I didn't get any swelling this time around (last pregnancy I swear I had cankles) standing for 46 hours a week was getting really, really old. I am SO happy to finally be on leave and getting everything ready and orgnanzied for babies arrival since I put it all off this time until this past month. The best part has been spending everyday with my 4 year old son. I will get to be off with him for the next few weeks just the 2 of us until baby arrives. I haven't been off this long with him since I had him 4 years ago for maternity leave, it's been really nice to have the 1 on 1 time with him since he is on summer break from pre-K. I'm hoping to not go back to work after this baby, but financially speaking we will have to see if it works on these next couple of months. Otherwise I will be returning to work mid-November.
Due Aug 16th, currently booked to work up until July 29th. I'm a L&D RN working 12hr day & night shifts. My manager is happy to book me beyond that date, but will only book the week of just in case, so that we aren't short at work... I'm Canadian so the time I take doesn't greatly effect my time off post partum
I'm due August 6. I work as a visiting nurse in Ontario and also have my own Footcare business. My last day of visiting nursing was last Monday ( I have saved up 5 weeks vacation time ). And I finished up with my Footcare today and handed my business over to another nurse. I have GD and on insulin and it was getting hard to drive to my appts. Eating lunch on the run and doing my insulin in the car etc etc. once my mat leave starts I get a year off thru government unemployment benefits. It's only 55% of my earnings but I'm hoping we will manage
