Menstrual like cramps normal?

Hello :)

I am 35 weeks and feeling menstrual like cramps. They tend to also be in my back and make me feel like I need to go number 2! Also, when standing I feel a pulling sensation in my cervix. Has anyone or is anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Menstrual like cramps normal?

  • Last time I checked period like cramps are never a good thing in pregnancy but no one can tell you what's going on . We aren't doctors . If you are concerned at all or have to think about calling your doctor then I suggest you call and not ask us .
  • I was experiencing period like cramps and my dr said that is normal. Especially if you spend a lot of time in the heat, on your feet, or not drinking enough water. She said it is my body preparing but can come on stronger for doing the things I mentioned. Always check with your dr though.

I don't know if these are signs of labor, this is my first pregnancy, but I do experience those menstrual cramps you are referring too. I had an appointment today and asked about it, I was told they were braxton hicks and that they were mild little contractions. To be sure, you should ask Obgyn yourself as these ladies are saying. My experience could be the same or different than yours. I'm 33wks by the way.
  • I'm so relieved to hear someone else is experiencing this! I've been so worried that I'm going to go into labour but so far nothing has happened. I'm 35 weeks also and am experiencing the exact same symptoms. I went to my doctors last week and he seemed concerned about it, which made me even more worried. I go back today to see him again, so hopefully I will get some more insight into it.
  • Same here but my OB said I was not drinking enough water.
  • I had this yesterday. The cramping got more intense. Went to get checked out and turns out I was contracting and dilating and have a UTI. :( Definitely call your dr and get checked out. Better safe than sorry!
  • I too had this yesterday and ended up having to go into the hospital because my contractions were coming every 8-10 minutes. I'm only 33 weeks so I have several weeks to go, however the mild contractions started because apparently I have a UTI. As far as I was told, there is no risk (as of yet) or sign that the baby will come early. It simply means the UTI was what was causing my contractions. Good luck!

I had simular feeling with my DD and I went to the Dr. And she said it was like my uterus was dehydrated. Eww! Lol!
    She recommended more water!
With this being said I would call your Dr just to run it past her. Better safe then sorry.
    Good luck!!!
  • I have been experiencing the same thing for about a month already. My doctors told me is ligament pain. And that the baby is low. That i should only worry if the top part of my belly gets rock hard and if the pains come every 15 min AND if I'm bleeding or leaking liquid.
