Anyone else not doing the whole "My First" outfits?

I feel like I'm a terrible mother because I chose not to dress my daughter up in all of the "My First" outfits. Everyone is posting pics of their babies in 4th of July outfits and I'm not interested in that. I might do something for Christmas, but I feel like it's a lot of money to spend on an outfit that she's only going to wear once and every "My First" keeps adding up and will cost a small fortune. Is there anyone else that isn't doing the whole "My First" thing with their baby?

Im not either except christmas but she has a ton of clothes from the baby shower which thankfully is saving me lots of money not buying her any, she got a 4th of july one as a gift but besides that im not interested in all the "My First"
  • I'm not but it sounds like a cute idea. Maybe I'll do something special at Christmas.

  • I prefer to coordinate my kids in the holiday colors but I use clothing they could wear on any day. So my son wore plaid shorts and a red v neck and my daughter had a navy romper with a navy and red headband I made for her. I find a lot of the specific holiday outfits tacky. That said, my brother gave her a 4th of July shirt so she did wear it for part of the day today.

  • It's very cute to see all the pics on social media, but I didn't dress my son in a my first outfit either. We celebrated as a family, but I'm reserving the my first outfits for Thanksgiving and Christmas which are bigger holidays in my family.
  • I'm only doing it with what I got as gifts! So don't worry you're not alone !
  • A very thoughtful friend got lo a bunch of holiday onsies and even considered appropriate sizes as he grows. How amazing is that? She said she started thinking about it when she heard we were expecting and bought them all on clearance after each holiday! The only one we were missing was the 4th!
  • Emmett's first 4th outfit. I got it at a second hand shop for $5.
  • I am only doing it if someone gave it to DS as a gift. Other than his coming home from the hospital outfit, I have yet to buy any clothing for him myself. People have been extremely generous! And baby clothes can get super expensive fast!

I think it's a cute idea for sure, but I just don't have the time for it. Besides that, he wore his 1st Canada Day (we are Canadian) outfit for a few hours before MIL put his diaper on wrong and he pooped all over it. So...yeah he got changed pretty quick after that. Haha!
  • Only if they are gifts or hand me downs. Or I bought a few things for Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas when I was pregnant with DD1 for $1 each. Each girl has worn them. I don't spend much money on baby clothes in general, let alone an outfit for one day.

  • I agree about the "my first's" outfits. I'm not interested in buying one for every holiday. But would probably do something for Christmas, like a "my first" bib. Before I checked the weather, I had DS in a red white and blue outfit at home. I had to switch to a pant set (which was mint green and grey) before we left for our backyard BBQ at my besties house. It was only 74 degrees here in philly, we're having a strange summer...

Btw @MrsKindy40 your kids are gorgeous!

  • It's so fun to dress them up. In my opinion it's worth it got an outfit for like $4 at Walmart.
  • Not doing My First outfits either. I agree about spending the money for something they only wear once- seems like a waste. I'm also not doing the monthly sticker on a onesie- again seems like a waste of money. Instead, I bought a $4 chalkboard I can use for every month or milestone.
  • @NPReed10 I did buy the month stickers (on clearance at Marshall's for $3) but I also haven't posted 1 month pics and don't plan on posting 2 month pics either. Everyone keeps looking for them. I'm just very cautious about posting a lot of pictures of LO on social media. Once they are out there, that's it, they are public property.
  • We bought a pack of month stickers from Amazon and we were gifted a few outfits for the Fourth of July and whatnot but I'm not going to run out and buy outfits. Seems silly and wasteful. Not to mention I cannot get my babe to 'pose' for pictures. Her 1 month 'photo shoot' was a DISASTER. She was not having it hahah. That 1 month pic was the best out of the 20 I attempted to take.

It was 107 the last couple days here :(

  • We were also gifted the month stickers and I love them!
  • Using month stickers here too.  My Canada Day sleeper is usable any time (just has little maple leaves on it) but even at a 0 to 3 month size, it would have swam on her.  I'll have a nice dress for Christmas pictures, but not necessarily over the top red and white,  just something pretty.

Um he is the cutest omg!

You can buy 12 months of the stickers for like 3.99 lol

Also I'm sorry but this Fourth of July outfit was well worth whatever somebody spent on it! Too cute!!!!!
  • I had no idea what you meant when I clicked on the title of the post. And my Facebook feed did not have a single 4th outfit, although it's full of baby photos from the weekend. So no, not everyone is "doing it." Relax. ;)
  • @marijaa333  I was being facetious.
