If meaning is what you're after then Valerie makes the most sense. It is derived from the Ancient Roman name Valerius, meaning "to be strong" which has a feminine form, Valeria, of which Valerie is a variant.

I love Valerie since the meaning is so perfect in this situation. I voted for Alana because that was my cousin's name and she died from a birth defect as a little one. That just kind of sealed the deal for me because it's just so special to my family! I'm so sorry you're going through this! Xoxoxo
I like Valerie for the meaning, but Nina for the ease of pronunciation. I'm thinking that when she's a toddler, she'll be able to say her own name that much faster, it would be one less thing for her to struggle with. (Mama, dada, Nina, all simple and easy to say)
