I know I'm late but I have something to say about government assistance. I am a college student. I pay my own bills and have a job in the field I am going into. It is a requirement for me to stay in school in order for me to stay part time there and continue there after I graduate. Paying for school and bills and my SO is pretty much in the same boat, I will be going on assistance after the baby is born. However I will only be utilizing the government assistance for about 1 semester (I'll have one semester left after the baby is born). After that I will work so hard for me and my baby. I will also be eligible for benefits after I graduate. My SO is going to school to be a Physical Therapist. He has 2 years left and for him to stop now would hurt him more financially then to just keep going. I would never abuse the system and promise to myself to only use for the short time I will NEED it. My SO and I are fairly young so marriage has not been talked about yet, but assistance is not a reason to not get married ESPECIALLY if your SO makes enough to support you/ the baby.
Once again I'm catching up on The Bump in bed next to my snoozy husband, laying on my Snoogle-which-isn't-actually-a-Snoogle-but-I-don't-remember-this-pillow's-official-name, feeling popcorn explosions in my stomach, trying to figure out if it's baby or gas, and learning so much about all these women when I know no pregnant women in my own (real) life. Pregnancy is a strange, strange ride.
I have nothing to add at the moment, but by all means continue the conversation.
